Praying Sunday.

G'day Everyone.

There's a day like today that I'm taking an hour or a two to sit in an empty church and pray for some ill friends of mine. In the last several weeks, I have learned that I have lost one friend to a brain stroke that has changed his personality and he's not the same as I once knew. It like finding a friend suddenly gone from my life, but his living body is here with a different person residing in it. There wasn't much point in trying to argue with him so it was better to walk away than dealing of what he's become. He could be gone later.
Another friend of mine could be gone as well in a few years. I can't disclosed how, but it's heart breaking. In the next few weeks, I will be traveling to visit him and catch up on life with him. It will most likely be an emotional moment of time for me, but I will have a good friend of mine to go with me while I visit my old friend. I'm very much looking forward to it.

There are times that I'm praying and asking God to take care many of my friends, close friends, family, and my readers of this blog. We all can't solve each other's problems in our lives often as we like.
But take a while to sit in a quiet church for some quiet prayer. It's like taking a break from the world to sit and tell God all your problems and get refreshed from His river. I do this in the winter months and bad weather when I can't go walking in the woods.
But spring is soon here as tomorrow begins the 1st of March and it's sure to come in like a Lion. Camping is on my mind this year and I'm looking forward to it.

Don't forget to pray for the people in Haiti and now most recently, Chile!
Enjoy a peaceful day.

Thanks Robert! *SALUTE!*

Concerned for Deaf people in the Pacific Ocean areas

G'day Everyone!

If anyone has heard right now, the nation of Chile was hit by an 8.8 earthquake. At the same time a Tsunami warning was issued for the entire pacific ocean! So friends, if you have friends in other parts of the world that you know of, I urge you to send an email, text, VP, whatever and get the warnings out quickly as possible. Deaf people need to get away from the coast line as far as possible.

If you think Haiti's quake was bad, this one is worse!! Pray that no other nation might be damaged, even with the tsunami waves too.

Please get the word out.

Hearing Leaders in a Deaf Organization.

G'day Everyone.

I will NOT be silent. I will speak out LOUD and CLEAR. Controversial as it sounds to be, I must speak!

When Jamie Berke posted in the deafness.about.com blog of a Hearing Leader for the NAD, she had her own firestorm going on.

Link: http://deafness.about.com/b/2010/02/20/hearing-ceo-of-nad-acceptable.htm?nl=1#gB3

Gallaudet University and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, both wonderful high education institutions in our lifetime. Did you know that BOTH of these places were founded by *hearing people* that had a desire, interest, and qualifications to help the deaf community? They do! But that was ages ago now.

Both places have replaced their hearing leaders with deaf leaders .

However, in this age of Economic recession going on, both institutions can't afford to post something of a job description that says "Deaf apply only" out there. There are THOUSANDS of Hearing, deaf, and disabled people out of work these days. Among those with out a job, they may be a qualified person, who's got an ability to lead a deaf organization!

I was dismayed when the Gallaudet University presented 4 deaf candidates last year for the position of the President. I asked them: Why wasn't a hearing person chosen for this position? It later turns out all along that the Gallaudet Board of Trustees wanted Dr. Alan Hurwitz and no one else. Well, they got their wish.

But in 5 years from now, the next set of the Gallaudet Board of Trustees is seated, they may not be so lucky in getting to pick of who they want. They may have to be careful in their next search process and follow procedures carefully. Heck, I'm going to advocate that MORE hearing people get on the Gallaudet Board of Trustees in the present time!

NTID isn't going to be so lucky of their choices. RIT Board of Trustees is watching NTID's Presidential search process very carefully. I personally believe every candidate that applies for NTID's position of President will be carefully researched and found to be qualified, no matter if they are hearing or deaf! I know NTID will do a better job than GU has done.

And if you to say that a hearing person can't lead a deaf organization, you are wrong. How about the controversial selection of Hearing Football Coach leading the Gallaudet University Bison Football team? Impressive of the 5 years he's done and nearly winning a D3 championship, but Hottle bolted from GU for another college before his contract was up. Will another hearing football coach lead the Gallaudet Bisons or will we slide right back for a Deaf Coach? It should be noted that Ed Hoyt was the first YOUNGEST Deaf Football Coach at GU. Perhaps bringing him back would be the best thing to do and bringing back Mr. Grayton as well.

Friends, we are living in a hearing world. We must work with hearing people. If they say they are qualified to lead a deaf organization, then I say we must give them that opportunity. To deny them would be the equivalent of breaking an ADA law. We were given the ADA law to help us. But we were not given carte blanche to discriminate hearing people either on their qualifications to help lead the organization.

What if it came to the point where congress were to establish this:

Hearing Qualified Americans Act, or HQAA for short. What would that mean? It means:
Prevents deaf people from denying hearing qualified candidates from the right to serving and leading in a deaf organization.

So what if a hearing person does lead the NAD? As long they have a business plan, excellent qualifications, and knowledge of sign language or willing to learn ASL, they can do it.

To say that they are not "DEAF ENOUGH", that is a discrimination. "Not Deaf Enough" to lead a deaf organization would not stand up in court either when a person has all the qualifications meet for the job selection.

Let's quit saying "Deaf only apply". Let's quit saying "Not Deaf Enough" as well. The best person to lead an organization, hearing or deaf, will be the one chosen to do the work.

If we choose a person who's popular, but less qualified for the position, then the organization suffers as a result.

If we work together with hearing people, then success will be shared among the deaf and hearing communities as a whole.

If you want to give me flack about it. The comments are already moderated and I'm wearing my asbestos gloves.

HR 3101 as an Educational Perspective.

G'day Everyone.

Jamie Berke wrote a guest post in another blog area. I was alerted and found this post. I decided that it was worth showing you that link :

One thing, please don't disrespect Jamie. Her last name is BERKE not Burke! (I got in her dog house once! Don't go there too please.)

HR 3101 remains to be an important issue. Keep the pressure on congress! We need this bill voted upon and passed!

Personal Topic Day: Moving on.

G'day Everyone.

Two songs that are main point of this post. Both by David Cook. Lyrics included.

Links:

and

I have had friends, girlfriends, and ex-roommates move on in life without me, even if they didn't part friendly with me.

For many of my former friends I knew long ago, it makes hard to remember them, especially at the moment I get phone calls and text messages that tell me I have to come to a funeral for my friend. When I go to their funeral, it gets pretty emotional for me. It's like recalling the good days and bad days I had with my former friend. But when I reach the part where we moved on in life, for whatever what reason, from each other, it make want to reach out to that person and say "let's talk it out before part badly.". I have endured to sit and listen to many stories from many of our friends of what was said and done in the years after parting of ways. Some of it is painful to hear. But other parts, it's a bit of comfort to hear it.

Of my former girlfriends: it makes me regret of the friends, of who we had in our lives, are the ones that were very jealous of my engagement/relationship. They may have thought I wasn't ready for marriage or wasn't marriage material. But their decision to destroy my happiness has led to many of their own regrets. I have forgiven my former friends, but not sure how my ex-g/f feels. I have personally wished and blessed them to have an enjoyable life out there. One or two wished that they could have made a better decision to stay with me. I told them and said "you can't change what was already said and has already torn the heart of a person. You must live of what you have decided. Go heal. If your path leads you back to me in life, perhaps then it's meant to be". So far, I know for them it's not meant to be. I currently have someone right now that I already love. Who it is? I'm not saying....YET!

Of my roommates that I've had in life, I've had some fantastic ones that have made it an enjoyable time. Some of us are still life long friends.

But, out there are still 3 evil roommates that are hurting others. I have wished and prayed that God would lock up those villains for the crimes that they have committed in my home. But still I am happy that those very 3 people will face God one day and have a huge regret on their face.
While these 3 evil roommates had the nerve to ask me to remain in my home, I didn't have any choice. Denying them the permission was the proper thing to do. After all, their need for wanton destruction, property theft, and making my roommates break up friendship with me is all the reason why I have booted them to the street where they properly belong. Do I regret it? Hell, no. My only regret is that they're not in jail where they belong already.

Personally, when I heard CNN TV news this morning that we are in an age where we are doing digital dumping age of people from friendship or relationships.

I recall my own days, before this digital dumping age happens now, that we had a form of dumping a relationship or friendship. It was using the snail mail (slow) and the phone.
I was young and when I was new to the deaf community, my deaf pastor encouraged me to give up my hearing girlfriend, my high school sweetheart, and take a deaf girl to marry. So how did I dump her? Instead of going to her in person, which some people advise you to do, I called her up. To myself, I thought I did the right thing. But to her, it was the wrong thing. I never knew that she loved me so much, she almost took her life. I never found out until the 15th High School reunion of what had happened. Not only I am angry at my former deaf pastor, but I am filled with regret in life too.

Today, we are choosing to dump people by using: Social Media Network sites, Email, Text Messages, blogging, cell phoning, and by word of mouth. What has happened to common sense? Whatever happened to respect that you should go to your friend in person and say WHY you are leaving them? Don't do it anger. But do it honestly. Do it in the right way, in person. By doing that, you will live with less regret.

I know some people have already either dumped me or moved on in life from me with out telling me or by just an email (nasty type). I have personally begged them to meet me in person before they did the complete break up. But, I would later find out through friends that some live with regret and that they want to find a way to reconnect. I have often reached out to reconnect with them. But its their decision to make the choice to accept it or not.

Whatever your choice of method for moving on, just make sure you are not doing it out of feelings of revenge or vengeance. Be honest. As I've said, do it in person and honestly. Talk it out. Part friendly. You never know when you may need this person again in your life.

Warning: Facebook scam going on HEAVY!

G'day Everyone.

Scams. There are sick individuals out there that are tricking and destroying users of Facebook. I know one friend of mine that has been scammed and the police are definitely involved in an active investigation.

So what scams am I talking about happening on Facebook? Read this site:
Be aware, my dear facebook friends. Gold membership in Facebook isn't going to get you anything extra.
Those in Farmville and Farmtown lately are being scammed more heavy than before. It should be obvious that scammers are hard at work.
When some one send you a recommendation to join a group or use an application, do yourself a favor. Before you fall victim to a scam, contact your friend that "recommended" you. Ask your friend to CONFIRM that he/she did do the recommendation for you to join a group or an application.
And please, hit your applications settings list and check your bookmarks often as possible. Some has been programming in some malware and spyware applications into the facebook applications area. Remove them when you see them and to be on the safe side, run your anti-virus programs.
I do hate of what's going on, but these individuals are bent on hurting facebook as well as other social media sites as well.
So please, be aware and be careful.

Changes for 2010

G'day Everyone.

I was doing a surfing on the web for some music a while back and stumbled onto that someone posted some songs with lyrics by the artist: David Cook. So I got curious and searched the youtube.com. Many of the songs by David Cook were REALLY INTERESTING.

So I selected two themes that really have me motivated about my life for 2010.

First song: Time of my life - By David Cook (Lyrics included):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNQrMuL54aQ&feature=related

So, I think in some ways, this is going to be my break out year on this blog. I'll be making some new postings and getting into other topics this year that will be posted in some more personal ways. I feel 2010 will be a change of some things. The bigger question is, will I live it out LOUD? Maybe! :-)

The second song: It's My Declaration - By David Cook (Lyrics included):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4IGD6AWN40

This year, I will be declaring a few important issue going on in our deaf community and in our nation.
It's going to be an interesting year.
I haven't yet decided how I will change this website differently. But consider it that it's a work in progress always.

We're about to leave February soon and heading into March. Will that mean winter is finally at an end? We should hope so. Many people are begging for an early Spring already. I have told some people to PLEASE have patience with nature and God. We will get to Spring for sure soon. Hang in there!

Enjoy the week.

Semper FI!

P.S. one more thing: There are certain groups and organizations that have attempted to try to post some unfavorable and harassing comments on this site. I have considered to open the comments area to general public use this year, where people can post at will, but there are some individuals that have rendered the decision to be impossible to do this.

My co-authors agree with me that the comments section will continue to be reviewed and approved for postings. Every one should be aware that their IPs will be recorded should a harassment comment be noted for legal purposes later. So, should you attempt to harass me, your post will be filed and you will have wasted your time.

Thank you.

Post Blocking

G'day Everyone.

Ever have one of those days when you get a writer's cramp? Well, not only I get a writer's cramp, but a Post Blocking. It's when I write something and then I can't eventually post the article to the blog because I need to think about the article more. Some times, that's difficult as well as to make sure I know of what I'm doing.

Lately, when you watch the news about how a man in Texas decided to end his life in the battle against the IRS, I feel very sorry for that person. But it does sound a message of how the IRS is treating people in this state of Recession. I encourage people to deal with the IRS on a non-violent level. One thing is for certain, God will judge these IRS tax people in the day of their death. For that man who died in the plane crash, God rest his soul.

Here are some articles that I've been considering about lately:

http://www.wlwt.com/news/22600154/detail.html#COMMENTTOP

When you get a guy like this one, brave and resourceful, that tangles with a bank, he did what he had to do.
I like a man that has built his own home on a land that was brought from a bank. But since the bank was drooling over an investment that they could foreclose and make a profit on, they ought to be reconsidering the decision that they'd do. I also feel bad that this guy will also get back at his brother who sued him as well.
Tearing down his own house might have been the toughest thing he had to do. But alternative? I would have burned it myself. Great job, buddy!

Article that should concern many in the winter time:
http://www.postgazette.com/pg/10048/1036403-53.stm

It's no excuse here. To hear a man complain of stomach pains and a ambulance crew blocked or stuck in/by snow, I get concerned very much. Plus, the 911 center just didn't get their act together in realization that this person could be having a LEVEL ONE medical emergency after so many calls for HELP. And to hear this *WIMPY* ambulance crew? Oh come on! But the worst is.. they let this man die without help!

I'm going to tell you something here. I know a friend of mine, who works for an ambulance company, that is very dedicated to his job. I'm not saying where he is or what company he works for, but he goes above and beyond the call of duty often. When it snows bad, like it did a few weeks ago, he straps on tall snow boots, packs a medical bag in the ambulance van, a radio, winter coat, and programs his GPS device to copy the same address the call is going to.
If the ambulance van gets stuck by snow, they do call for the local snow plow come and plow the street. But, my friend doesn't wait. He gets right out and goes right to the address. More than often he reports in the call that was reported in the 911 call, that sounds like a simple call for help, turns into a actual emergency distress call! My friend has saved more lives in these winter storms.

When I look at my friend, I look back at that article. These ambulance people didn't do their above and beyond the call of duty. They only cared of staying warm and not being out there in the snow storm. They didn't care about human life. So I hope every ambulance departments learn a lesson of what happened in Hazelwood, PA.
In the next few months, they'll be defending themselves in a lawsuit for sure.

So I think my posting block is over. I'll get on to other posts. Have a great weekend.

another TWO MORE VRS execs plead GUILTY

G'evening Everyone.

I just got news about TWO MORE DEAF VRS employees have pleaded GUILTY in the fraud case. It's not related to John Yeh, but it's similar to it. LINK: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/two-former-executives-of-video-relay-services-company-plead-guilty-to-defrauding-fcc-program-84727197.html

Will it be clear down the road that the government is piling up more and more people against the original people who did the original fraud of the VRS? I'd say yes. And if John Yeh were a smart man, he and his current defendants would be better served to plead out now rather than risk being found GUILTY and punished all the more in court.

In about 3 months, we'll going to be watching a court trial happen. This will get interesting. But it will impact the Video Relay Service industry so much more.

Stay tuned.

Semper FI.

thanks, JB!

If you are going to be stupid....

G'day Everyone.

A friend of mine relayed me a story that involves the use of a tazer. So he asked me to post it here.
A word of *WARNING*: Prepare to laugh yourself to bits.

____________________________________________________

If your going to be Stupid, You better be Tough!
Just try reading my story without laughing till you cry!!!

Pocket Tazer Stun Gun, a great gift for a wife. A guy who purchased
his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this:

Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra "oomph" for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse- sized tazer. The effects of the tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety.

WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing happened! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I'd get the blue
arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.

AWESOME!!! (or so I thought it was)

Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave oven.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right? There, I sat in my recliner and my cat, Gracie, is looking on intently (trusting little
soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second and EVIL Laughing) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? I wanted to be sure, right?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and the tazer device in my other hand.
The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant. I thought that was nothing wrong with that.
Reading more : A two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control. I thought humm, sounds ok but could be medium cooking of your mugger.
Reading more: A three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water.
I thought "God help the person who meets this tazer at will!"

Reading last warning: Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries. I thought, "Or worse yet, facing the electric chair at will!".

All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" inch long, less than ¾ inch in circumference and two prongs it looks pretty cute really and (loaded with two
itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries) thinking to myself, 'no possible way!'

What happened next is almost beyond my human description here, but I'll do my best to explain:

I'm sitting there alone in the house, Gracie, my cat, is looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, 'don't do it dip shit master!!'. I was reasoning with myself that a one second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn't hurt me all that bad. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and

*HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. . WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION . . . WHAT THE HELL WAS JUST THAT!!!*

I'm pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, and then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again.

I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs?

The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above
the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room.

Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a tazer, one note of caution:
there is no such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor...

A three second burst would be considered conservative and not hurt anyone?
IT HURT LIKE HELL!!!

A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point in my life), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the destroyed landscape that was my living room.

My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace.
The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was.
My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching.
My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain by some sadistic dentist,
and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I had no control over the drooling.
A quick look in the mirror showed me I was someone else already!

Apparently I pooped on myself, but was too numb to know for sure and my sense of smell was gone.
I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head which I believe came from my hair (what's left of it).
I'm still looking for my nuts and I'm offering a significant reward to anyone for their safe return!

P.S. My wife, can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift,
and now regularly threatens me with it! I may have to get a lawyer and a restraining order against her and move out of my house.
I wish to God I never gave her that damn tazer! Ye gads! Never again! So men, do yourself a favor... DON"T BUY A TAZER FOR YOUR WIFE! A can of Mace works just more effectively!

If you think self- education is difficult, try being stupid!!!
___________________________________________________

Sherlock here. Let me say this.. there are some stupid people out there. Especially on Youtube.com. I remember watching one young kid, on video, take a tazer to himself and **ZZAPPED** himself to bits. It was extremely hard to watch. I keep wondering if that poor kid is ever ok.

So please, please, people. If you are going to test a tazer on yourself, make sure someone is with you. You do not want to be found dead. Better yet, just don't test any tasers on yourself for any reasons. Leave in the hands of the professionals, namely the police department and the military people.

Thanks.

More on the Kevin Smith vs. SoutWest Airlines.

G'day Everyone!

I like how movie director: Kevin Smith has risen to the challenge to battle SouthWest Airlines in defense of Fat people and how SouthWest Airlines handles the seating of fat people. It's been on CNN TV several times already. Here's the updated story, Link: http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Movies/02/15/kevin.smith.southwest/index.html?hpt=C2

I like how one commenter on CNN TV did say that the airlines should set some rows of seats that are a bit larger for people. Fat people are not going to disappear from society at any point. But the airlines have better get their act together because some day, if an airline really embarrasses someone over a weight issue and all attempts at resolution may be for naught because someone will want to take the airline to court for a through punishment. I think SouthWest Airlines got off lucky with their spin machine. But woe to the event that they piss off Kevin Smith again.

Caption Action 2 hits the White House!

G"day Everyone.

Was it a good idea for the writers of Caption Action 2 blog hit the White House? Link: http://captionaction2.blogspot.com/2010/02/white-house-delaying-web-captioning.html

The bigger question is, is the Obama Administration doing anything to help the disabled community for jobs and/or training? What is the future of the deaf and disabled community in the USA under Obama's Presidency? That should be the question of the day.

The writers of Caption Action 2 had the right idea, but it should be spread more to include other opportunities for the deaf and disabled community. Otherwise, they did a great post.

SouthWest Airlines Ejects a FAT passenger!

G'day Everyone.

A reader to twitter saw an article about SouthWest Airlines and a FAT Passenger that was ejected off the plane by the pilot over, get this, "Safety Issues". This is pure nuts to read about it. Here's the article at the link and my comments follow after you read it.

Link: http://gawker.com/5471463/update-the-kevin-smith-southwest-airlines-fat+flight-tweakout-of-epic-proportion?skyline=true&s=i

Part of that article has made me laugh. Another part has me on the serious side. When plane makers don't realize that the flying public has some weight issues, they don't make designated seats like they're suppose to. If being labeled fat could be a disability label, then it would be an ADA issue and planes would have to make special seats like for the bus and trains.

Airlines have been, for the last few years, making the fat public passengers pay for an "extra seat". But know what? It's a rip-off of an epic proportions. All in the name of airline profits. I have sat next to someone who's WAY larger than me. I've known someone in the 300+, 400+, and of course 500+ pound area. Were they thrown off? OF COURSE NOT! They didn't bother me. I didn't mind the arm rests being up and beside me. I always take a window seat when possible and enjoy the hum of the plane.

I haven't flown in ages right now. But I'm more than happy of taking Amtrak when I can. Does Amtrak charge fat people more? HELL NO! Amtrak has very comfortable seats.

Anyone complain about fat people on bus lines? (I'm talking of mass transportation like Greyhound and Trailways) I doubt any fat person gets charged double fares just because the bus companies are afraid of their tires being blown out from the weight of people. What about taxi cabs? Nope.. not them either.

Overall, I hope Kevin Smith and SouthWest Airlines come to some sort of compensation. But I think at this point that there might not be any since this is already being twittered and blogged away onto the 'net world.
Court fight? Most possible now.

For SouthWest Airline, their Public Relations Image has taken a big hit today. *WHAM* It will take a while before things go smooth again. Me? Hello, Amtrak?

Disabled woman KILLED by her "new friends"

G'day Everyone.

I'm shocked!! Very shocked! READ THIS! I DARE YOU! LINK: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100213/ap_on_re_us/us_disabled_woman_torture

How could these young people beat up and kill a disabled person? To me, it seems like the defendants were on a joy-kill of a human being. Especially a disabled human being!

I call upon the State of PA and the Greensburg, PA Prosecutor to please give these defendants THE DEATH PENALTY because they do deserve to die for their crime. Nobody deserves to die just because we are handicapped. But what these young people did to her, I hope they wind up in hell where they justly belong!!

Death Opens The Winter Olympics

G'day Everyone.

I am very disappointed in the International Olympics Committee. Why open the Winter Olympic Games last night when the death of a competitor happened? It's insensible decision.
http://www.cnn.com/2010/SPORT/02/12/opening.ceremonies/index.html?hpt=C1

In the days to come, there will be an investigation. Safety standards for the competitors will be raised higher for all aspects of the games. Over all, the opening ceremonies should have been postponed to today so that they could allow the team of Georgia (nation, not state) to properly mourn the loss of their teammate.

Would this be the last Winter Olympics? Maybe. But given Vancouver's icky weather and lack of cold and snow, almost anything could happen in the next few days.

My suggestion: Pray for these people. Safety should be the first and foremost to happen as people take part in these Olympic games.
Let's hope the Olympic committee learns a lesson that when a death happens, give everyone involved at least a full 24 hours to mourn before allowing other events to happen.

For now, the games are open and the competition begins. Good luck competitors.

The big LOVE weekend.

G'day Everyone.

Mardi Gras has started! The weekend is looking to have some big parties. Let's see, there's people still celebrating that damned Saints (Aints) win, people trying to out party everyone else before Fat Tuesday (Lent season begins this Wednesday!), and just found out that this Sunday will be a big double event day.
Sunday is LOVE day. That's right: Valentines Day. That's the day we all love that special someone. I hope you will plan a romantic weekend for someone out there. Start today and make a smooth end on Love day.

Sunday is also Chinese New Year. It's the year of the *ROAR* (ducking into the protective corner) TIGER (Geng Yin)! Hopefully this will be a good lunar year for everyone.

So if you are going to party or make love this weekend with that someone special, please be careful and be responsible. Do not drink, text, or chatter on the cell phone, and drive this weekend. Even on Fat Tuesday. Police will be out in force.

Also, in many places, yes we are due for another round of winter weather again! SnowArmageddon III? Who knows? Be careful!

Have a great weekend!

RIT SWITCHES FROM QUARTER TO SEMESTER MODE!

G'day Everyone!

Breaking news!! RIT is switching their schedule from the infamous quarter system to the semester system!
Link:http://www.rit.edu/news/?v=47321

It's just spreading across the 'net now. Finally, after many decades of student pleas and complaints, Rochester Institute of Technology will switch from a semester system to a quarter based system. How much should all of cheer? Only if you are student cheering before 2011, 2012, and 2013. I remember how much intense the classes were in a quarter system. Does RIT finally get the educational sense now? They may have just gotten with the real program in the educational system.
For us alumni, we still remember we had to bust our butts to get our homework done.

So glad for RIT joining the semester system!

Represenative Murtha, Caption Action 2

G'day Everyone.

The whole state of Pennsylvania is in shock this week after Democratic Rep John Murtha died from Gallbladder surgery complications. Not only it's sad, but it says a lot that doctors were not careful with Rep. John Murtha in his surgery. Had they been careful, Murtha would be with us today instead of this untimely demise. Link:
http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/02/09/murtha.gallbladder.surgery/index.html?hpt=Sbin

Surgery is always risky for anyone. Even if it's a simple procedure. So, it is a sad time for the Murtha family and for the State of PA. We have lost a wonderful congressional represenative. His influence will be missing for ages to come. May God be a blessing for the Murtha family.

In the next few weeks, the State of PA will host a special election to elect someone to fill out the remainder of Murtha's time in congress.

Meanwhile: http://captionaction2.blogspot.com/2010/02/see-flo-tv-super-bowl-ads-flo-tv-doesnt.html
There are people hard at work to continue to spread the word of the reasons why we need caption action 2 for the digital age. As TV station begins to move from the cable age to the Internet age, so does it become much more needed for captions to be used across the Internet as well.

Speaking of captions, my favorite friend, Seek Geo, made a list about the commercials in the super bowl. Geo listed which commericals were closed captioned and which commericals were NOT closed captioned.
Link: http://www.seekgeo.com/?p=4995

I say that Geo was very well detailed about the super bowl commericals. There were really no surprises in it but a lot of funny moments. So Geo, you get a major salute out of me!

Enjoy the day, even if you are snowed in, warm up well.

FaceBook HomePage Redesign: EPIC FAIL!

G'day Everyone.

For anyone that's been on FaceBook for a few years and seen how the old designs were easy to use, FaceBook was then a lot of fun to use.
Then two years ago, the uproar started and those that run FaceBook redesigned it and claiming that it was easier to use. Many people protested about it and those protests fell on, excuse the pun, the deaf ears of the designers.

Now, a few weeks ago, those people that run FaceBook has released an entirely redesigned FaceBook layout. Easier to use? NOT! Many people have to re-learn to use the FaceBook pages as they once used to.

It would be far better if the FaceBook web page designers where to give users a LOT of options to choose from rather than pulling something on the users that we may not like at all.

How popular would the future FaceBook social media site be after this? It depends on how people react.

By the way, all the area hospitals, in the snow storm area zones, had better prepare in 9 months (about October/November 2010) for the number of babies being born from this Snow Armageddon I, II, and possible III storms. (if you happen to be a gay couple, no worries).

Good luck and stand by with a shovel. For me, once more, I face this storm with my trusty snow blower!

SNOWAMAGEDDON II! (The revenge weather)

G'day Everyone.

Ok, everyone can blame some of us in the north states for their weather woes. Some people just wanted the snow to stay south because we were just wishing it would hit DC hard and punish Obama. Well, the snow stayed south and of course, hit DC very hard. The people in DC coped very well by having a massive snow ball fights and a few days off.
Suddenly, there are forces of weather in which we, in the north, knew very well we were toying with. The punishment hits soon in form of SNOWAMAGEDDON II, the revenge snow attack! This time it will cover a lot of the northern states, but of course, DC area will get another vacation day as well. Just doesn't seem to be your day, President Obama!

Meanwhile, it's obvious in the NFL world that the Saints (still aints, we call them. dat who dey are!) are the new team that are the "Rodney Dangerfield" team. They won't get respect. If they dropped the New Orleans voo-doo chants and played some honest football (without any onside kicks till 4th quarter), then maybe they'll get some respect. But sadly, they realize that they have to upgrade their health insurance this. Every team is going after them. They must first survive the NFL draft. Will the Saints stay intact? My gut says that this Super Bowl team will be torn apart so that the balance will be restored.

So while New Orleans begins their party, they have a long road to forgiveness. The way they played the game will not be forgotten for a while, at least not till the 2011 lock out.

Bundle up and stock up, people. Prepare for SnowAmageddon II.

New Orleans are still AINTS!

G'day Everyone.

By now, the nation has realized that controversy has happened in Super Bowl 44. I'm sure the poor NFL commissioner will not have any choice now but to change some rules and look at how Super Bowl 44 went down.

For the moment of half of the game, it looked like the Colts were in control and destiny to win it all. Then came the two controversial moments. It was in the 3rd quarter where the Saints (aints!) did a controversial onside kick that just didn't fly past 10 mandatory yards. It should have been caught by the refs and called on the carpet. Yet, it happened illegally.
Then another situation ended up in a illegal touchdown in which the aints player obviously didn't have control of the football and juggled it.

And yes, we had a near chance of an overtime nightmare to happen. Yet, the bad saints of New Orleans came away with broken wings, trashed halos, grew horns and tails, and hold the proverbial pitchforks. They New Orleans Saints are still aints. They didn't play fair and showed poor judgements. As the celebration begins in New Orleans, they have better enjoy the party and the trophy while they can. Better yet, they better get down on their knees and pray that God doesn't strike New Orleans with Hurricane again before lent season.

Honestly, the real winners are the COLTS. They played honestly and impressively. Peyton Manning was a real machine. He knew what to do and did his best. He and his team should be given a warm welcome home and given encouragement to prepare to beat those aints when football season 2010 begins.

For the NFL commissioner, his headaches have just begun. He's going to have a few long months to consider what to do for a while.

Remember, who dat? Who dat is aints. They'll always be that.

Snowarmagadden hits Obama Nation!

G'day Everyone.

I can't believe it. Some times I have to *THANK GOD* that I am not where I'd want to be right now. I've seen snow storms as a student when I was at Gallaudet University. But this one was really for the history books.
Link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35237043/ns/weather?GT1=43001

Part of me wishes I didn't wish for that snow to stay that far south. But it did. It struck the Nation's capital very hard. Should I be impressed with God for it? Maybe. It's kind of like our own natural disaster in our nation's area. We should be thankful that it's just snow. It could have been much worse than that.

Soon the snow will melt and there will be some flooding issues. But I hope we can all be thankful that God is being merciful to this Nation. Then again, we should treat it as a warning as well.

As it is said that it's a historical storm, snowarmagadden is one for the books. What's next? I don't wanna know and neither does any one else. We just want nice weather to come soon.

Perhaps then again the ground hog is hiding some where in fear of his life. He rues that day he said "MORE SNOW TO COME". Let's hope his ground hog hole has a good drainage system.

Overtime NIGHTMARE for Super Bowl 44

G'day Everyone.

If there was something to worry about for this coming weekend, it should be about pigskin football.

In the last few weeks, we've seen plenty of dramas where NFL football teams fought it out to the point that you have to have sudden death overtime.

Look at Kurt Warner. The overtime game he was in shocked him to retire again. I think that's good on his part because he's had enough being hit all over.

Then Brett Farve was hit so many times that he wasn't well enough to focus his team in overtime to fight off the Saints! (real name:aints!). Brett Farve's throw became the interception that doomed his team and his career of the NFL future. Question is: Will Brett Farve return or will he go the way Kurt Warner did? In sense, he ought to play just two quarters each game and then let a new understudy Quarterback take over for him.

Now, we're about to hit Super Bowl 44 in less than 48 hours. Some one wrote about the nightmare about overtime in NFL. LINK: http://jay-mariotti.fanhouse.com/2010/02/04/lets-hope-ot-doesnt-ruin-super-game/?icid=mainmaindl5link3http%3A%2F%2Fjay-mariotti.fanhouse.com%2F2010%2F02%2F04%2Flets-hope-ot-doesnt-ruin-super-game%2F

So let me say something. If the Saints (AINTS!) and Colts march on down to the OVERTIME DOOMSVILLE, in which will hurt the entire NFL for sure, and if the Saints manage to win the toss and march all the way down in just 3 tries and kick a field goal, it's not sportsmanship. The Colts ought to be given the same opportunity to either score a Touchdown or a Field Goal (to tie it up). The first one to truly miss either opportunity in overtime is the real winner of the Super Bowl game. (In this case, it was Brett Farve's fault for sure!)

But no, the way the play-offs have been going on several weeks before, one wonders if the fairness rule was ever applied for sportsmanship?

Let's hope just one thing: Just one normal 4 quarters of a pigskin game that results in a win by one point or more. No need for OT. If that just happens, we'll all breath a *HUGE SIGH* of relief that won't result in a Monday morning arm chair quarterback picking on the NFL totally. But if we get overtime, run for the damn hills!!

After all, the NFL had better put their honest and most independent refs on the field this time.

The big pigskin show is about to begin Sunday night at 6pm. Relax and enjoy. Be safe this weekend and please drink responsible and drive safely. Police will be out in force. NO drinking, No texting, and no cell phone driving!

Bad days to be a Baptist.

G'day Everyone.

The religious world took another hit of a bad public relations scandal. It was especially bad this week to hear of a Baptist ministry group being caught for doing something that they thought it was legal to do. Now I'm betting that they're praying for God to work a miracle to get them out of there.
Link:http://www.aolnews.com/world/article/idaho-baptists-charged-with-child-abduction/19345502
http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/02/04/haiti.arrests/index.html?hpt=C1

Across the globe, almost every Baptist ministry wants to disassociate themselves from the Baptist church from Idaho. It is a sad day indeed.

It is a reminder that human nature can be evil. But even if they had the right idea to help the children of Haiti's worst time, they should have done it correctly. Pray for Haiti and it's people. They still have a long way to go before they finally get back to the normal life we all have every day.

Also, for those in the snow storm zones, please be careful out there! Don't go anywhere unless you have to.

Have a happy weekend! SUNDAY, BIG SUPERBOWL DAY! My pick: May the COLTS crush the dreams of the Saints! The Saints will be put back to Aints again! Go for it, COLTS! RUN HARD, Play hard, make them pay!

The Groundhog is wrong!

G'day Everyone.

The Groundhog is wrong! Even the weatherman is wrong. Those who say we are headed for 6 more weeks of winter after seeing a shadow on the ground, do yourselves a favor: run for the southern states where the real sun is!! Link: http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/weather/02/02/groundhog.day/index.html?hpt=T2

There is no way Groundhog Phil could have seen his shadow despite all the cloud coverage today. It is so dark outside, it makes you wonder how Phil could have seen his shadow in the cloudy day?

I hate to blast Phil and the weather man, but I am today. I disagree with them both. Take a walk outside and look at your garden where you got flowers growing. Flowers are at the mercy of God. When God says when to grow, they'll grow. Last week, during the nice weather days when it was warm enough, I went outside. Imagine my shock that I saw flowers pushing up through the dirt. I was more convinced that Spring was coming closer than the ground hog and the weather man are saying.

Winter may hang around more, but it won't be any more welcome than it is. So, depend on your garden and God, my friends. When God says something to GROW, you know some better weather days are coming.

Note: Even other ground hog and people contradict phil too! Link: http://www.aolnews.com/nation/article/staten-island-chuck-punxsutawney-phil-other-groundhogs-make-winter-predictions/19340829

Another Quiet weekend.

G'day Everyone.

The weekend was a QUIET weekend recently. What can I say. I can only say that I'm sad for a few things.

First of all, St. Ann's Catholic Church, which is where I used to go play bingo often before, finally held their "farewell to the bingo games". A rather large crowd turned out for the event which drew more strangers than the usual bingo players. No matter how well I played, I didn't win anything in the finale night. Several of the current players asked me where I'm going to be going to. I told them: "time to hang up the bingo markers and focus on the future". Like for many of us in this state of economic recession, we are concerned for the coming future. We all said our good-byes, good lucks, and congratulated on the bingo staff for their work.

Sunday's Pro-Bowl NFL football game was rather a big success as AFC defeated NFC. But now the question is: Can the COLTS defeat the Saints (aints)? I'm hope that it's a big YES!! In about a week, those New Orleans Saints will be aints again! When that happen, we'll cheer "who dey aints?!" "oh yes, NO Aints dey are!". So shine up your horse shoes Colts. You better have your mane washed and dried and ready to rumble in Miami! The nice thing is, it's an outdoor game so this ought to even the field! Super bowl Sunday coming on February 7th!

Lastly, today I had my grief day for my aunt as she had passed away. The funeral was simple and to the point. Burial, much less. As she's gone, so are the memories of her. Not much I can do but get on with life. It was an unexpected time to hear her passing away a few days ago. But one thing I know is that my uncle Dale is proud to be reunited by his wife in peace.

So on that point, I bid you

Semper FI till the next post.
