Shocking info on the Sherlock Holmes Movie!

G'day Everyone.

Sherlock Holmes fans might want to turn away from this upcoming movie. That is if the sources at PlanetOut.com are right about this info that I was reading in my email. They sent me to this web page: http://www.gaytvblog.com/2009/02/sherlockhomos.html

One thing I know for certain about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, he didn't write or get into Sherlock Holmes personal life as much as he would have. Depending on how Dr. Watson often wrote in his "diary" from his perspectives of the adventures he had with Sherlock. One thing is well known about the Sherlock Holmes: He's intellectual, pipe smoker (heavy at times), a science man, a thinker, a musical person (plays that violin), and a private person. Which means Sir Doyle never wrote as much as he would have about Sherlock's private life.

As you may have read from the stories, Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes are partners in the agency of their own, roommates, and very good friends. Though, it's quite clear in the final book I once read, but forgot the title, that Dr. Watson went on to marriage and having a family.

Now this up and coming movie is possible that it explores Sherlock Holmes relationship with Dr. Watson in a "brokeback mountain" type of way. But, should it happen like that? Or should the mystery of Sherlock Holmes private life be as it is: Personal and a mystery? Would Sir Arthur Conan Doyle peg Sherlock Holmes being gay and Dr. Watson being Bi-sexual? I think Sir Doyle would be rolling in his grave at the present moment about this movie.

See what happens if this movie ever comes out. God help us if they do have Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes having a "brokeback Mountain" moment in the movie.

Chicken soup and the interpreter in court battle.

G'day everyone!

Well, I should be clucking like a feathered hen already after so much chicken soups. Getting sick is NO FUN. Especially when the body aches and pains and groans. *ahh-choo!* (excuse me!).

Lately, I hate how my next two weeks are shaping up to be a busy time when I get well again. For now, the senioritis posts are *HOLD* till I get better. But the more bigger issues have come up for me and I must deal with them.

New development has happened. Ever since I went to the court house and asked for an interpreter for the deaf for the next court hearing, I had a feeling that this defense lawyer would raise it as an issue.

You know, it's no fun being chosen to decide some one's fate. But, when it comes being a deaf member of an all hearing jury, what's to prevent a legally deaf man from serving on it? There are some times that I can almost hear everything in a large setting without an interpreter. NOT ALWAYS THAT POSSIBLE!!

Apparently, the defense lawyer decided to raise an issue out of it now. That makes me angry. I'm only following my rights under the ADA law in requesting for a deaf interpreter.

The battle in the court room is set for next Thursday, March 5th. I might have to hire a lawyer in order to defend myself. I will find out more of what I have to do as information comes in.

March 6: Hello to a job interview with PA Civil Service in Scranton, PA. Summer job only. But ah.. who knows what'll become for sure?

The week after that will be busy if I have that court day, then job fair in DC and visiting friends.

You know, being selected for jury duty is an honor. But it's also a public right. It's not easy to decide some one's fate too. Forget whatever you see on law and order on TNT or whatever what channel it is these days on cable.

Stay tuned.

a little down post.

G'day everyone.

Well, every one's been asking of where my next post on the senioritis will happen. I'm working on it. Have patience with me.
Recently, I was feeling a little bit down lately. Part of it was due to Mardi Gras that went on the past Friday and Saturday in my town. A friend of mine said to me: "Just be glad you didn't go! It looked like a damn military take over by the police and looked like a fucking police state there!". Which is why the event organizers tried to tell the police department to go in plain clothes. The attendance numbers were WAY down. For the police themselves were boosting of how happy they get to be PAID for overtime work. *sigh* Nothing like economic party killers. However, the police presence has resulted in some arrests. Expect lawyers to say "over zealous police work".

Lately, I have been watching the news about economics and with the recent passing of the stimulus bill, one has to ask themselves a question: "Is Obama that stupid to pass and sign into law the biggest pork barrel (the economic stimulus package) ever made in our Nation's history?"
To be honest: YES! It is wasteful spending. Some people believe our nation isn't going to make an effective economic recovery because of the disaster that was started by fmr.President Bush.

Is there any hope of our nation? Ask me again in June. If there's any hope left for the poor college graduates out there.

Time for me to get busting on my post I planned to do.

So till next time..

Senioritis in Colleges and Universities.

Update note: this is a series I started some time ago. I took an opportunity to finish this today.

*Warning note: Senioritis is *NOT a REAL DISEASE*. This is a article about the life of a senior student in school. Please read carefully. Thanks.

Today is PART two of a two part series.

***************************************************
G'day Everyone!

It's Friday. Mardi Gras has begun today. Most celebrations, in various places, will take place tomorrow. Some places, like my hometown of Williamsport, PA, are hosting a two day celebration. There is one thing that displeases a lot of people this time in our town. The mayor of Williamsport, PA has suspended the rules on "open container" law and made a huge party zone block where people can walk around having an open alcoholic containers. But those who are underage and thinking they can score free beer (just like those with senioritis do), yer out of luck! IDs will be checked and you have to have a wrist band on you. So tough days.

Don't forget, if you are driving at any time, there will be DUI patrols and check points. So be aware of it.

Let's turn away from Mardi Gras and talk about Senioritis in Colleges and Universities.

For the newly graduated senior from High School, they're flush with victory. They think now that they made it through "basic education", it's time to relax and party it up in the colleges and universities of their choice. That's the sweet "sound of musical thinking" that Greek organizations want to hear from the new seniors. "Come party in our organization if you choose our college" is their motto.

HEY! STEP ON THE BREAKS!! *SREEECCHHH!!* Do you really want to be infected with the college senioritis? Would you want to face a day where alcohol/beer is your choice of poison and you struggle with classes and a bad GPA? I don't think so! Not Especially in these Economic times!

Would be surprised that the average college/university student actually parties on the weekends (some during the week in some places) and just barely passes classes? By the time they are in their last semester of college, the senioritis disease finally leaves them wide awake and they realize they are deeply fucked up.

Would their GPA below 2.00 actually help them get a job? NO! They try to go on an all out frantic push to try to bring up their overall GPA to a decent level above 2.00. But you know what? It's too late for them. Their future is down the drain already. The only recourse of their life is to learn from the undergraduate days is to get into Graduate college/university and be very strict with themselves. That's the only way they can bring up their GPAs to decent hire-able levels for employers.

Update: As I finish this part of the Senioritis series, at this time (which it's July now), I hope many students are taking stock of the economic times and that a HIGH GPA is better than a low one. The higher the GPA, the better chance of a job. Avoid Senioritis in college/university. Study hard and get the highest GPA you can get. When you graduate, you'll be happy you did it all for the honor!

Senioritis at High Schools

*Warning note: Senioritis is NOT a REAL DISEASE. This is a article about the life of a senior student in school. Please read carefully. Thanks. Today is PART one of a three part series.
***************************************************
G'day Everyone.

Tomorrow is the day Mardi Gras/Lent season begins. Tomorrow also starts a disturbing trend that has been around for many years in different education levels. It's a "disease" that strikes every type of student. What is this "disease", you ask?

It's called SENIORITIS.
What's so important of Senioritis? Senioritis strikes when student becomes extremely lazy and in a full party mode daily. It's prevalent from Mardi Gras party (February) to the end of the graduation party of (May/June).
Let's look at the different levels of SENIORITIS:
High School: Senioritis begins the moment the student is told that he is officially a Senior in High School and is able to graduate in the following year. That's the moment when the student becomes full of him/her self that they "know it all" and that their 12 years of basic education is coming to an end of the days of having to get up early (yes, some literally over sleep), riding the bus, facing bullies, dreading homework, and hates the food in the cafeteria. They become lazy bums. They habitually skip school. Some hang out with crowds of other students deep into the senioritis disease. Some get into trouble with the law and some do HARD DRUGS. Some actually drop out of High School all together. They think they know better than their parents, teachers, and those in authority.
What's the cure for the High School student with Senioritis?
First, stop senioritis before it starts. If parents and teachers would sit down with the student in a Parent/Teacher/ Student Conference (PTSC) mode, they can effectively hammer out a goal for the student. Have realistic rewards for the student for meeting those goals for the next 4 years. It's an important time of the young student's life.
If a student can be told that the HIGHEST GPA they can work for will gain them admittance into the college of their choice (when they select it in Junior/Senior year), then it will motivate them to do their best in the classes of High School. Honors do await them if they do their job right.
By the time they are seniors themselves, they'll be able to resist the disease of Senoritis! They'll tell those crowd of students infected with seniorits: "Get the hell away from me, you loser!". (the truth does hurt!). When they graduate, they'll be most victorious students you ever saw.
What's the cure for the High School Students that are already infected with Senioritis?
For these students, they have the WORST PILL to swallow. It's two different pills. The first is called TOUGH LOVE. If these students are already doing drugs, dropped out, or in trouble with the law, parents have only one choice and that's giving the student tough love. It's one of the worst experiences for the student to go through. By the time they realize what they are doing, the end of senioritis has already damaged their future. That is when they have to take the 2nd pill. The pill of regrets. They will be meeting counselors, former high school senioritis addicts, and trying to salvage their futures by gaining GEDs and trying to apply college that will take a chance on their education.
Some of the former students that are permanently infected with Senioritis are the very ones that are in prison or walking around with a permanent police record on their neck. There is NO CURE/NO HOPE for them. Everyone involved in their life has tried to reach them. It is too late for them. They are the very ones that will forever preach to students in 9th grade to avoid the dreaded senioritis disease.
I want students in the 9th through 12th grade to avoid senioritis. I want them to have the best education available to them. I want them to succeed in this life. I want them to become honorable men and women that they deserve to be. I want them to enjoy life. If they will truly believe they got the drive, determination, and goals to meet, then senoiritis will be unable to affect them.
Go for the goal. Avoid senioritis.
Tomorrow: part two. The colleges/universities

Recovery from Wipe Out Friday!

G'day Everyone!

I had a nice morning so far into the afternoon. I went back down to the court house today. I walked up to the District Court Administrator's Office and talked with some of the important people. Nice to know this much: I'll be getting an interpreter for the March 09 trial! Oh yeah! I feel much better that I've made sure that I'll be able to in SOUND and the interpreted word of what's going on in the court room. It removes any chance of doubt in my mind that the lawyer for the defendant is going to have any hope that I'd be on his side. Unfortunately, time will not be on his side. Now all that is left is to wait for the days to pass, which won't be long, for the trial to happen. Now I feel happy that I recovered from Friday's wipe out.

Meanwhile, state budgets are really being discussed very roughly. Every area in the nation is about to be impacted on the quality of life. California is in very much in dire straits. Will more deaf schools get hit? Stay tuned for more reports out there.

Enjoy the week! Semper FI.

Lawmakers to sue on behalf of SSSD!

G'day Everyone!

First of all, happy President's day to most of you. It is my full regret that I won't have a chance to visit the court house till Tuesday and meet some important people about my interpreter issue over the jury duty. So I plan to get down there Tuesday AM and see what'll happen. Stay tuned on that.

In the meanwhile, here's an article about the lawmakers that are considering of going to court to save the Scranton State School for the Deaf. http://thetimes-tribune.com/articles/2009/02/14/news/sc_times_trib.20090214.a.pg1.tt14deafschool_s1.2300867_top2.txt

We should learn soon if the issue does become a court issue, then we'll know what the next step is. Though a protest isn't planned yet, but it's clear the lawmakers are fighting this closure issue very much.

So, enjoy relaxing tomorrow. Most of us have a day off. Some still work. ahh go figure.

Wipe out Friday.

G'day Everyone.

Well, it had to happen. It's Wipe out Friday. Even on Friday (knock on wood) the 13th! *shudder*

The reason why I'm wiped out is that I'm emotionally drained from the last few days. From Tuesday's emotionally charged day at my best friend's home, I'm glad I could help him but still very concerned for him. He's got to make some serious decisions for himself. I'm in hopes down the road that I'll get a job somewhere and he and I will be roommates later. There's a lot of praying to do about that. I just can't exactly explain what happened between him and I. Please don't ask. Thank you.

After a brief respite of being back home on Wednesday didn't give me enough of a moment's peace. Thursday came in with vengeance at me. (that is, high winds day in my area). That day was COURT Thursday. I was called up for jury duty on this day. So I can tell you this much about of my experience.

Thursday, I got up early AM to shower, breakfast, and eventually drive down to the parking deck despite the high winds that were making every thing slow down. It was pretty much a nasty day. I arrived at the court house and after passing through the security stuff, I made my way up to 2nd floor. Once there, I was obviously disappointed. Why? My local court didn't recognize of what I wrote on my registration card, when I got the notification, I sent it back that I was deaf. So here I was, stuck in a room alone with hearing people. I had to depend on lipreading and my hearing aid as the best I could do. Hearing people do what hearing people do. They just don't stand still.

After registering at the table and getting my juror badge, I sat. I listen to the opening remarks and sat to be called in by our names. About groups of 40 people were ushered into a court room for jury selection. The first group were called. Then the 2nd group was called. I got in with the 3rd group list. After the line up to file into the court room, it got interesting but tough from there.

Now, fate might have played safe with me (or so I thought). I was on the far right side of the benches. For a moment, it looked like nothing would happen for me. Hearing these people were tough. The judge (male) had a nice LOUD voice though the speaker system. But the defense lawyer was tough to hear and lip read as well as the prosecutor. Fate acted up (should have been my warning). One juror got dismissed and the man next to me was pulled to sit in his seat.

In the next instant, I was hearing another juror got dismissed and guess what? I was tapped and told to sit in the empty seat on the other side of the benches. Just my luck! We were the last 25 people kept in the court room and the ones on the far side of the benches (where I just sat before) were sent to lunch and told to come back at 2pm in the afternoon. LUCKY DAMN STIFFS!

Well, try as I might to challenge the judge that I need an interpreter, it was brushed aside. The judge was convinced that I could hear enough with the audio system in the jury box and since the court rooms are small (round chambers), he thinks I should do ok. *sigh* The next thing I knew the prosecutor and the defense lawyer (d-lawyer) flip through the questions to ask the jury to insure it would be neutral jury. All the while, as I listened to what the judge was saying about the court stuff, the prosecutor and d-lawyer were passing the list of the jurors back and forth. This was the selection process at it's best. (forget what you've seen on tv about individual questioning stuff). In the end when the clerk got the paper, names were called.

Want a *SHOCKED* moment? Try being me.

As the clerk was reading the names of the people in to the jury box, I was silently praying "not me, not me! Oh Lord, NOT ME PLEASE!". In the next instant, I heard my name called and I was ushered into the box. I was shocked that I was chosen to be on the jury! In the back of my mind, "whoa, this can't be real!".

So, as I listened, the judge dismissed the never picked bunch of people to come back at 2pm for the next round of court stuff. Damn Lucky stiffs!!

My jury was selected for a criminal trial stuff. It's suppose to be for a one day stuff in March. After that, we were all dismissed and instructed to call a phone number to see if the trial would be on or not. The judge was hope that the defendant might take a plea before then. So we'll find out soon.

After the session, the judge showed me the other room where the actual trial's going to be. (similar room). Got a chance to look over the room. I thought it would be easy because of the small room being round, but it's certainly crowded and there's really no room for the public to attend unless yer fortunate to get in there for a reason.

I left the court house and as I later processed the info in my mind, I became concerned. My mom, (of all things!), thinks the judge is right that I should sit in this trial without an interpreter just because I can hear SOME things. But, when you are hearing impaired (deaf), you really have to question yourself. Who knows better? You, or the judge, or mum?

Answer is: BOTH ARE DAMN WRONG! (my mom and the judge). So I decided to take action. Monday, I plan to stop in to the court house and visit the District Court administrator's office. If I have to do a little ADA law and making some changes on the Jury Questionnaire form, then it's going to be my job to do that. Even if it costs me a chance to sit on the jury. A friend of mine is encourage me to do this. Another friend of mine, who previously sat in on a jury duty, said that I was living in a "HICK TOWN". That is to say, large cities do have a deaf population, small towns rarely do. (note: we used to have a deaf community here. Just in the last few years, most have migrated to the other parts of PA).

So of what will happen on Monday, I will let you know. Until then, enjoy the weekend!
Semper FI and happy v-day!

Being a faithful Friend.

G'day Everyone.

What is a Faithful friend? That is something that you have to consider yourself if you are really willing to put your own problems aside and help a friend in trouble.

Yesterday, I had an event that changed the routine of my day and challenged me to do something different. It was something that I will NOT forget for a long time.

A best friend of mine of many years recently confessed that he did some thing very stupid and messed up his relative's computer. He was considering doing some to harm himself. It was very detailed in an e-mail that arrived my inbox that morning. I had just sat down at my computer and just drank coffee. I saw my friend's email that was very odd. I was opening it and just took another drink of coffee. But once the very words registered of what he had written in the email, I spat out my coffee fast as I did, making a mess. I was in TOTAL SHOCK!

I quickly wrote to my friend an email and demanded that he get on-line, prayerfully that things were NOT too late. At the same moment, I forwarded the email to a confidential friend that was already on-line and was discussing the situation with him. Thanking God that my best friend appeared on-line and I thoroughly questioned him of what was going on. My confidential friend encouraged me to go down see my best friend.

That was when my internal debate of what I should do started. You see, having jury duty was one thing that I might have expected to happen on Wednesday (today) should my number get called up. So I debated. To go or not to go? Then I came to realize that this *MUST BE DONE*. I asked myself, would I dare to take a chance and go down to help my best friend in his trouble? My mom was saying "no, don't go". But I felt God leading me to *GO* and help my best friend.

So I kept talking to my best friend on-line, packed an over night bag, and got moving. My mom was a little upset, but she understood that I was doing this to help a friend in trouble. I told my best friend NOT to do anything stupid and that he could contact me on my cell phone on his OWN computer. He said he would listen and watch for me.

Hopped into my car and drove fast. (no, not speeding ticket fast. whew!) Few hours later, I arrived at his home and went right to his relative's computer. It was a nasty virus bug. I was throwing everything at it. The bug refused to budge off the computer. One bit of prayer and some how, the hard drive *SHORTED* itself a bit! (Hand of God? I wonder). Lightly tap the reset (power) button and the bug somehow fell out of program from running. That gave me an opening to RIP THAT DAMN FILE out of the system for good! Praise God.

Once that was done, I gave my friend a through lecture. He learned his lesson. ( I hope so!) Later, I called up the jury services in my local county via 800 number and surprise, my number is NOT yet called! My friend took me to dinner and I grabbed a room at a hotel for the night.

I think my best friend was more than shocked that I'd drop all things and come to help him. In this depression filled world, just about everyone else has their own problems as well I have. But when a friend calls you with a different type of problem, you have to realize that you have the necessary skill to solve that problem for someone.

A faithful friend is someone dependable. That you are there for that person at the right time, right place. I gave my time and energy to be there for my best friend. I do not expect he might be there for me when I need him, but I wanted to show him that I do care about him. It was a time of being used by God for a situation to help him.

While the situation is confidential, I am in hopes my best friend learned a lesson. I hope he makes the best of it. Second chances are rarely given by God. But a Faithful Friend is more rare to have in this world.

I hope you aid your friend, even your best friend when you can. No matter what the crisis is, your friend will appreciate you more when he calls upon you. I hope you choose to help. I did and I am glad.

I may not change an entire world of people of their problems. But helping a friend, even a best one, is just one step of the way to solve one bit of a problem so that they can focus on other problems of their own.

I'm back home now. Tomorrow, my number could get called for jury duty. Will be documenting the experience.

So till later: Semper FI.

Update on the SSSD

G'day Everyone!

The storm clouds for Governor Ed Rendell is growing in epic proportions. If he's NOT prepared for a protest, then he better be ready because we are going to MARCH on him!

Can't come to the protest? There's a petition growing ON-LINE: http://www.petitiononline.com/SSSDSOS/petition.html
At the last view, it's close to 3000 signatures. By the time you read this, the numbers will be higher. So please! Post something on the petition! Sign it! Even if you are not from PA, help us say it LOUD AND CLEAR to our Governor of PA! SSSD must stay open!

At the same time, in many places across PA, some of the hearing schools are also closing their doors because of low classroom attendance. It hurts hearing families too, but the greater question is, will it lower property taxes that help pay for these schools? That is the greater question out there.

Whatever happens in these economic times here, the impact is bound to be greater.
Get this: President Obama will have a prime time news conference tonight at 8pm on TV. It will be CC'ed. He will speak about the Economic status of our nation. I will be watching as well.

Stay tuned.

Save the Scranton State School for the Deaf!

G'day Everyone!

OK, now I'm angry with Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell. I personally think he's crossed the line in his budget talks with the lawmakers. I wish this is an impeachment waiting to happen and Gov. Rendell would do well to remember of what just happened to the former Illinois Governor recently. This is NOT a season for Governors to play around with the lives of the disability community in these budget talks. But, from a re-election stand point, Gov. Ed Rendell won't be getting any votes from our deaf community after this at all!

If he's (Gov. Rendell) thinking to use the deaf school situation as a "sympathy vote" to cause lawmakers to save the Scranton State School for the Deaf (SSSD) and find a way to make a better budget for Pennsylvania, he's going to be way wrong. Very wrong!

Senator Bob Mellow of Peckville may be opposed to the pre-emptive closing, I still disagree with Bob Mellow. Sen. Mellow wants to close the SSSD in phases. I say, The SSSD, in my opinion, should NOT be closed at all! Just because the State of PA has invested more than 129 years of Deaf Education, they have greatly impacted the lives of many deaf people.

Why do I fight for the SSSD when I was a half deaf/half hearing impaired kid that was REJECTED by them for having "too much hearing"long ago? It was at a time that SSSD discriminated a lot of hearing impaired kids. But today, things have changed.

This is the deaf community that I am a part of here in Pennsylvania. I have some friends who came from SSSD. This will NOT sit well with all of us. Yes, we are going to protest!

Be aware, many deaf clubs, organizations, and friends are getting organized to head to SSSD in the next few days and stage a major protest on the campus of SSSD that is largely expected to be peaceful. All the details for the protest has not all been worked out yet. But when push comes to a shove, Gov. Rendell had better watch out. As I said, we will protest of what he intends to do for the PA State Budget.

When I find out the details of when this protest will be happening, I will be posting them. Stay tuned!

Free Denny's day. AG Holder. Jury Duty.

G'day Everyone.

Yesterday was a MAD HOUSE day at the local Denny's restaurant. They were offering FREE Grand Slam breakfasts. But some times, Denny's give out a bad PR. My local Denny's restaurant has been a place where a few fights have happened and actually hire security guards (rent-a-cops, as most call them) to try to prevent them. Go down there on Tuesday for the free breakfasts and this was a *HUGE* turn out. Way huge. But Breakfast isn't all that free. You still have to pay for drinks, toast, and anything else you want. So it may actually be a good PR day for Denny's. Just as long as there was NO FIGHT IN THE LINES.

Meanwhile, I've been told that the former investigator of the HMB incidents at Gallaudet University, Eric Holder, is now Attorney General of the Justice Department. To be honest to say, I do not support this confirmation of Eric Holder. I have even written and told my congress representative about it. It was confirmed that my congress representative had voted "NO" in the role call vote. The biggest concerns that we should have is, will Holder uphold the ADA law for the disabled community? That is where we must watch and see if this person does that.

Finally, like Micah Brown said some months ago about his Jury Duty experience, I have also gotten a call for Jury Duty myself. It's the 3rd time in many years. The first two times happened during my Gallaudet University days. I didn't want to miss classes and asked to be dismissed from the selection of which I was given that twice. But here it is, 3rd time I'm called to come up for Jury Selection. I don't know what case it's going to be called for. There are several cases that will be happening in the coming weeks in Lycoming County. One of them happens to be a very major murder trial that will be coming up as well. If I get chosen for the Jury, expect me not to discuss it for a while. What I hope for is this: Just to be a member of the Jury and not the foreman of the jury. In Micah's case, he was the foreman on his jury. Unfortunately for me, I do not wish that honor because it is not a good place to be in. So, I will see how jury selection happens in my experience. If I'm not selected, that's ok too.

Till next post, Semper FI!

G-hog day! Phone swatting? Believe in BLACK AND GOLD!

G'day Everyone!

For those who wake up and phone that Phil, the famous Ground Hog, on his big day would give us the forecast for the remainder of the winter season. Guess what? The sun peeked in just enough to inspire Phil to see his shadow and say "6 more weeks of winter, folks!". A collective groan rose up through the crowd. But all in all, it was a time of the year of a hope. So, bundle up everyone! Sit by the fireplace. It's going to be a TOUGH 6 weeks. Old man winter is HAPPY!

Phone Swatting. Is it real? As it is reported on Deafness.about.com by jamie berke, the real credit goes to Robert Goodwin who found this article: http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/20090201/ap_on_hi_te/tec911_swatting

While it is happening in various ways, I do believe it's real as it can get to be. But woe for the 911 centers and police departments. While they are only doing their jobs, it will wind up in the legal system over false arrests and various penalties that could be applied to police departments over the false 911 calls. Technology, even for the Internet relay operators, is far behind these days.

This morning, I had a phone call from a collection agency, demanding I hand over a sum of money or I'd be collected. I instantly contacted them back. When I was asked if I knew a name of a person living in my home, I told them right back and said "look, the number is a cell phone. I own this number. You and I are a victim of a debtor's phone swatting. " . That was when they realized it. Even when I told them that I looked their phone number up on google. This collection agency had a lot of people complaining. This hasn't been the first time it happened. Nor the last. It may happen to someone else too. So when you get a call from a collection agency for someone else on your phone, call them back and tell them CLEARLY. Then ask that your cell or land line phone number be removed from their database.

Lastly, it's BLACK and GOLD day! As you know, last night was Super Bowl 43. It was a roller coaster of a moment. What should have been was a game played by any other team. But like Jim said in my previous post comments, it was clear that the refs in the other games favored the Arizona Cardinals and allowed them to win and go on to NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT.
Last night, the Arizona Cardinals made so many penalties of over a 100 yards, it looked like a moment that they'd win on penalties of cheating. But providence of Faith favors those who played an honest game and that's PITTSBURGH STEELERS!

Big Ben reached down with his arm and made a STRIKE in the end zone with a player who made an excellent job of hauling in the football and keeping BOTH feet on the ground of TOUCHDOWN! That was the PLAY OF THE GAME! Yes, it shocked the Cardinals. Yes it shocked the State of Arizona that celebrated too soon. And yes, it shocked Kurt Warner thoroughly. From the near win of "prove it", the Cardinals were sent home "failed and lost it".
Right now, for a temporary time, Pittsburgh is renamed SIX-burgh! Six super bowl wins! Wow!

Cardinals ought to be worried about every other team gunning for them pre-season football opens in August 2009. I say: Good luck birds. The team you ought to fear the most now is the Philly Eagles. Their "talons" (game plans) will be sharpened JUST FOR THE CARDINALS.

So, until next post.. SEMPER PITTSBURGH FI DAY!

Pigskin Ground hog Daze! Deaf Read Awards?

G' STEELER DAY to you all!

Yes fans, it's time for the Game of the YEAR! The SUPER BOWL Game. The countdown has begun to the 6pm game time. Be sure to tune to NBC for the big game. May the Steelers WIN! The birds will go from "prove it" to "Lose it".
Don't forget, next Sunday will be the LAST after the Super Bowl game. PRO BOWL: NFC vs AFC. It will be at 4:30pm Next Sunday, February 8th on NBC. Next year, Pro Bowl : NFC vs AFC will be played on the weekend AFTER the play offs are over and BEFORE the Super Bowl. Thus, the Super Bowl will become the climax of the NFL Season! Sounds reason able? Yup. That's the way it should SELL Football! How many years have we begged NFL to do this till we finally convinced them? *sigh*. DUH!

Meanwhile, Ground Hog day is Tomorrow. A certain town in PA will go nuts for Ground Hog Phil. Check out: http://www.groundhog.org/ . For those who want to make a last minute trip to Punxsutawney, PA (near Pittsburgh, PA.. ALERT: Erich Kost, Phil's calling you) Go to: http://www.punxsutawneyphil.com/ and click on the 2009 Guide link. This year's Ground Hog festival is sure to be a BIG ONE! May Phil *NOT* see his shadow and give us an early spring!

Another thing that I have been watching for lately, is for when the 2008 Deaf Read Blog Awards would happen. It seems like it's NOT going to happen. I'm not surprised given to how things have been happening in the deaf community lately. We're all doing a lot of various things. So life just goes on. If we don't have any deaf read awards, then it's prolly for the best not to have it.

So stay happy out there! GO STEELERS! Pigskin rules Sunday. But Ground Hog rules Monday!

Semper FI!
