Senioritis in Colleges and Universities.

Update note: this is a series I started some time ago. I took an opportunity to finish this today.

*Warning note: Senioritis is *NOT a REAL DISEASE*. This is a article about the life of a senior student in school. Please read carefully. Thanks.

Today is PART two of a two part series.

***************************************************
G'day Everyone!

It's Friday. Mardi Gras has begun today. Most celebrations, in various places, will take place tomorrow. Some places, like my hometown of Williamsport, PA, are hosting a two day celebration. There is one thing that displeases a lot of people this time in our town. The mayor of Williamsport, PA has suspended the rules on "open container" law and made a huge party zone block where people can walk around having an open alcoholic containers. But those who are underage and thinking they can score free beer (just like those with senioritis do), yer out of luck! IDs will be checked and you have to have a wrist band on you. So tough days.

Don't forget, if you are driving at any time, there will be DUI patrols and check points. So be aware of it.

Let's turn away from Mardi Gras and talk about Senioritis in Colleges and Universities.

For the newly graduated senior from High School, they're flush with victory. They think now that they made it through "basic education", it's time to relax and party it up in the colleges and universities of their choice. That's the sweet "sound of musical thinking" that Greek organizations want to hear from the new seniors. "Come party in our organization if you choose our college" is their motto.

HEY! STEP ON THE BREAKS!! *SREEECCHHH!!* Do you really want to be infected with the college senioritis? Would you want to face a day where alcohol/beer is your choice of poison and you struggle with classes and a bad GPA? I don't think so! Not Especially in these Economic times!

Would be surprised that the average college/university student actually parties on the weekends (some during the week in some places) and just barely passes classes? By the time they are in their last semester of college, the senioritis disease finally leaves them wide awake and they realize they are deeply fucked up.

Would their GPA below 2.00 actually help them get a job? NO! They try to go on an all out frantic push to try to bring up their overall GPA to a decent level above 2.00. But you know what? It's too late for them. Their future is down the drain already. The only recourse of their life is to learn from the undergraduate days is to get into Graduate college/university and be very strict with themselves. That's the only way they can bring up their GPAs to decent hire-able levels for employers.

Update: As I finish this part of the Senioritis series, at this time (which it's July now), I hope many students are taking stock of the economic times and that a HIGH GPA is better than a low one. The higher the GPA, the better chance of a job. Avoid Senioritis in college/university. Study hard and get the highest GPA you can get. When you graduate, you'll be happy you did it all for the honor!

Semper FI.
