G'day Everyone.
Sherlock Holmes fans might want to turn away from this upcoming movie. That is if the sources at PlanetOut.com are right about this info that I was reading in my email. They sent me to this web page: http://www.gaytvblog.com/2009/02/sherlockhomos.html
One thing I know for certain about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, he didn't write or get into Sherlock Holmes personal life as much as he would have. Depending on how Dr. Watson often wrote in his "diary" from his perspectives of the adventures he had with Sherlock. One thing is well known about the Sherlock Holmes: He's intellectual, pipe smoker (heavy at times), a science man, a thinker, a musical person (plays that violin), and a private person. Which means Sir Doyle never wrote as much as he would have about Sherlock's private life.
As you may have read from the stories, Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes are partners in the agency of their own, roommates, and very good friends. Though, it's quite clear in the final book I once read, but forgot the title, that Dr. Watson went on to marriage and having a family.
Now this up and coming movie is possible that it explores Sherlock Holmes relationship with Dr. Watson in a "brokeback mountain" type of way. But, should it happen like that? Or should the mystery of Sherlock Holmes private life be as it is: Personal and a mystery? Would Sir Arthur Conan Doyle peg Sherlock Holmes being gay and Dr. Watson being Bi-sexual? I think Sir Doyle would be rolling in his grave at the present moment about this movie.
See what happens if this movie ever comes out. God help us if they do have Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes having a "brokeback Mountain" moment in the movie.
Semper FI.
