Halloween 2009

G' (boo) day!

I've taken over the deaf sherlock account finally! It's the one day of the year I can finally gain access. WHY? Because many of his enemies helped me gain entrance to here where I can finally do something about him.
But let's agree on one thing. I really can't do anything rash because the IP is recorded. Yes, to all you morons out there, Sherlock does track you and he could call authorities to pick you up and haul your ass to jail IF he wanted to.

However, sherlock always writes opinions. Remember, every blog is an opinion and protected by the expression of FREE SPEECH. Heck, even the worst rival blogger and vlogger is protected in free speech. If you don't like bloggers and vlogger write, then do the hell yourself a favor. Take a poison apple, and take a HUGE BIG CHUNK OF IT. Chew it good. Then just keel over and expire. It also means, if you don't like what we bloggers and vloggers write and produce, then simply just move on and drop our blogs and vlogs from your daily reading interest.

Most of us do this blog and vlogs for fun. It's also to keep our English skills and sign language skills in shape. If we don't do it to entertain others, then who will? Look at Seek Geo. He wild, funny, and a one show man that can perform to the best. Or how about Tom Neville? His posts on his web site is sure to leave your sides hurting as you laugh so hard.

In the end, we all got an opinion. That's what makes us unique to say.

One more thing. Sherlock does get some inside stories about some certain things that go on in various places. For example, and I say this to you, moron, that left a comment earlier here, Sherlock did know and was aware that there was a high possibility that Hurwitz would be selected. So why did Sherlock go with Rosen? Simple. Sherlock is loyal to both NTID and GU. But to support the GU BoTs choice to steal Hurwitz from NTID? That would be bad ethics. Especially since GU BoTs wanted Hurwitz more than the other candidates out there.
So now, the question remains: How much of an impact will it have on both schools? I'm sure it will be clear soon. I also hope NTID does NOT limit themselves to deaf candidates, but hearing candidates with deaf education background and having ASL!

Uh oh.. security may be coming. I done enough damage. Take care ya'all!
and many thanks to my enemies that help me break into sherlock's account!

Bootistical hiptistical!

Yankees chant out Phillies, Bison battle. More Football Battle!

G'day Everyone.

Controversy has erupted this morning as last night's crowd in Yankee Stadium took up the infamous chant "Who's your daddy now?" on Phillies Pitcher Pedro Martinez. It had a dramatic effect on the teams as the NY Yankees road on the crowd chant to a 3-1 win. But while it happened, the people responsible for the stadium tried their best to drown out the offending chant. Unfortunately, the damage was already done. The Yankees even the series with the Phillies. The next 2 games are in Philadelphia and the series will resume on Saturday evening that promises to be to be a Philadelphia Stadium house of horrors for the Yankees as the phillies fans will be very angry with the NY crowd for their chants. Expect it to be a spooky night as a near full moon happens that night.

If the series shifts back to Yankee Stadium later, will the "Who's your daddy now?" chant be banned? One should hope so. Pitcher Pedro Martinez should be respected. But shouldn't be razzed to the point where he can't do his job right. If it happens again, Yankee stadium staff should be held responsible to remove and eject the thousands of fans, who do the offending chant, so that baseball can be played taunt free. Players deserve a enjoyable atmosphere. But they shouldn't be faced with an overwhelming hostile crowd every inning as Pedro Martinez was. One bad acting fan ruins the entire game for everyone, including the teams.

And if I was to manage Phillies, I'd put Cliff Lee and many other BETTER productive pitchers back in the line up and attack the Yankees again. It was a risky move for Phillies to use Martinez and yet, he was masterful as he could be.

As the HORROR weekend comes up, Penn State is playing at Northwestern University at 4:30pm , Saturday. It will be on ESPN.

The Gallaudet University Bisons will be at Anna Maria (Mass) for a road trip football game. The Bisons *MUST WIN* there and then head to Maritime (NY) and *MUST WIN* there if they want to host the Championship game. SO GO WIN BISONS!

SUNDAY will be a BIG day. Just before World Series game 4 happens that night, there's a major Football event. The Philadelphia Eagles will host the NY Giants. It's expected to be a Battle for the NFC lead. Game happens at 1pm in Philly stadium. I would hope if the Eagles defeats the Giants, it may take the victory sails right out of the Yankees! Go Eagles!

As it is Halloween weekend, I ask my readers to be safe and not to drink and drive. Police will be on the road and looking for drunk drivers to arrest. Parents, please take great care of your kids!
Enjoy the weekend!

Update: If there was an incentive for the Phildelphia Phillies to trade Pedro Martinez after the season is over, they just got it:
http://jay-mariotti.fanhouse.com/2009/10/30/yankees-again-pedro-martinezs-daddy/
I would encourage every phillies fan to bombard the Phildelphia Phillies starting now till the end of the series that they should RELEASE Pedro Martinez for his comment. Encourage them to add a clause in their release: He can't play for the yankees.

Yankees drive off a cliff of LEE!

G'day Everyone!

I was kind of busy last night and attending a disability meeting at the city hall which went very well. An employment info is suppose to happen the future so I'm looking towards that. If I find a link to last night's meeting, I will post it.

I got home and it was the Top of the 6th inning. The Yankees were driving off a Cliff named Lee last night. Of course I'm making a joke about Phillies Pitcher named Cliff Lee. Cliff Lee was very masterful last night on the mound. BUT, the only thing that did get spoiled was his shut-out chances as the Yankees managed a run to avoid the shut out in the game.
By the time the game ended, it was Phillies 6 Yankees 1. Phillies takes the lead 1-0 in the world series. The action continues tonight in Yankee stadium and will be aired on Fox TV starting at 7:30pm.

I learned recently that all the hotels and tickets to the philly game are SOLD OUT for Saturday. WOW. As much as I have tried to reserve a room for me and a friend of mine, I didn't have much luck. That is if you want to be in a hotel nearly 2 hours away. Oh No thanks! Pass.

But as it's October, the baseball madness continues. The question for tonight is: Will Yankees claim Game 2 to make 1-1 or will the Phillies win game 2 and go up 2-0 over the Yankees?
We will find out tonight. Fans in NYC area, bundle up. If you thought rain was one thing, how about a cool and maybe cold later tonight? Be ready!

In the mid-west out there, it's already a winter SNOW going on! What a white Halloween for everyone out there. Just be careful driving!

And as the weekend winds coming up, there's football game happening. I'm hope the Bisons win. But the moon will almost be full and almost anything can go crazy on Fri and Saturday nights.

So have a SAFE and Happy Halloween!
For my readers who don't support Halloween, May you have a wonderful Fall Harvest celebration weekend!

PSU's Controversal "White out" shirt sparks uproar!

G'day Everyone.

School spirit. Gotta give the students something to cheer for. You know what? Look at the latest controversial talk going on the PSU campus:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,569665,00.html?test=latestnews

Let's see.. it's a "cross" design and yet it's sparking an anti-religious protest? Hey! Think back for a moment here. Back on October 17, 2009 Saturday, just before the PSU took on the Minnesota Gophers, something happened on LIVE TV. The camera captured The Minnesota Gophers Mascot MOCKING a PRAYING PSU football player. The Gopher was mimic to say "God answers your prayer? Yeah right. We're gonna win! NOT you. WE GOPHERS WILL!"

What happened after that? Minnesota Gophers got SHUT OUT 20-0! And you know what? Those shirts are definitely a WHITE OUT shirt! POWER OF PRAYER shirt! PSU players, Students, and Fans GOT A RIGHT TO WEAR THEM! Don't bother a redesign, but print more and sell them! Never mess with a PSU's white out shirt! It's best to shout loud and clear.
PSU's shirt is something for what it is. School spirit captured in the right way to praise God.
And if critics don't like it? I think those critics better watch carefully because more than 10,000 students could become bloggers overnight if we call them up for it. White out a blog and vlog sphere? very possible.

So if a opposition team decides to bring their mascot along to the game in Happy Valley, PA, give them one WARNING. Do not MOCK the White out! Because by power of prayer in God, we're Penn State Strong!

BASEBALL SMACKDOWN!

G'day Everyone!

Last night, thousands of people watched the New York Yankees take on the Los Angeles Angels again. This time, it was their *BIG GLUP*!! They're wishing right now that they didn't play last night and wished that they just lost the game at home. Was their last home game in LA their last one? Yes. With the Angels season over, halos and wings broken, and heading back home to consider their winter training season, the Angels will be watching their TVs on the west coast.

The WIN for the Yankees sets up an Interstate 95 series between NY and PA! Nothing could be sweeter for the Phillies! *BUS TRIP*! I had a big hunch of a dream that it would be the Yankees vs. Phillies. So that Sunday night baseball game was the great conclusion of a weekend SMACKDOWN! But fear not, dear fans.. the baseball war will be greater starting Wednesday night. Security will be tight. Hotels will be full. The October madness begins as the moon draws to it FULL POWER! *HOWL*.

We haven't seen it get crazy yet, but I believe it will be soon! Naturally, a friend of mine from NY and I will be friendly enemies as we take up our respective teams. Phillies are all mine. Yankees are all his.

Who will win?
Yankees?
Phillies?
or will it end (God we wish) in a world series tie? (Won't happen. We know that!)

Anything can happen in this October Baseball Madness that will soon give away to Football Madness of November/ December. That is the college bowl games and NFL play-offs to come.

One more thing. Bisons, listen up! Beat Anna Maria THIS WEEKEND! YOU CAN DO IT! BISON BELIEVE IT!

Till next post..

Weekend SMACKDOWN!

G'day Everyone!

Who needs the Wrestling stuff when the weekend has been a PURE SMACKDOWN in Football sports in ugly weather? You can only stand there and say WOW!

It seems the Gallaudet University Bisons STOLE some game plays from Penn State University's homecoming day. Believe it or not, if The Nittany Lions could destroy the Minn Gophers, then the GU Bisons have TROUNCED the Becker College Hawks 37-0! I say that was the BEST HOMECOMING Game in 75 years to happen, despite it was bad weather. The Bisons should be pleased to close out the season at home with a great win. Season record now stands at 4-4.

The Bisons have ONE MISSION NOW: If they want to get into a ECFC Championship game, they MUST WIN the last 2 away games! Beat Anna Maria College on October 31 (ooh, SPOOKY Game! Becareful Bisons!) and Beat SUNY Maritime (NY) College on November 6. So Coach Hottle, you better train our boys well!!!

Wet Weather was also a factor in the PSU Nittany Lions game vs. the Michigan Wolverines!! The Nittany Lions stormed into the Wolverines "Big House" stadium with claws and fangs bared without warning. It was a fight that was over from the start of the first attack. Penn State won 35-10! Someone wrote to me from Michigan and said "That was the most quietest game I've seen in ages. Especially in the 4th quarter!". For PSU, since they haven't won in the big house for a long, long time, this has to be very big and sweet October Gift to Joe PA (Head Coach Joe Paterno) from his team. The only thing right now for PSU to do is keep doing their job and get into a bowl game this year.

The Phillies are anxiously waiting to see how the Yankees vs Angels smack down is going to happen. Last night was suppose to be a game night. But no, the Angels got into a *prayer group* and begged God to send some rain so that they could get adjusted to the time zone and be ready to take away 2 games from the Yankees. But for the Yankees, their frustration couldn't be more clear that they want to fire up the bats and take just ONE GAME away from the angels. So, LA Angels, keep your bags packed. Yer going home MONDAY AFTERNOON! Get ready for tonight's baseball smackdown! The Yankees are going to win and face the Phillies! Can't wait.

In conclusion of the post, I was touched by the story of Shiloh Pepin that I saw on the discovery channel. She was a 10 year old girl that was born with fused legs. Fun but very stubborn girl. Unfortunately, she will be missed as she passed away recently. Link:

May God take you into his grace Shiloh Pepin and give you not only just rest, but two WONDERFUL LEGS that you can run around to your heart's content in Heaven!

Fare well Soupy Sales!

G'day Everyone.

The stars are dying. And I don't mean the ones that go NOVA and become a black hole in space. I mean the great Hollywood stars are DYING.

One of the greatest Legends of Comedy has passed on. http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/TV/10/23/soupy.sales/index.html

I grew up watching and laughing about this guy. Easy to lip read, excellent body language, and masterful acting this guy knew HOW to make people laugh. Laughing hard that is.

It's becoming clear that Hollywood is looking for new talent to replace the ones that retiring or dying. Who will replace a man like Soupy sales? These are hard shoes to fill.

But as he is gone, I can only say this for him: Soupy Sales, I don't care how many soupy sales of soups are sold out there. But you have freely given us time to laugh and forget about our troubles. We know you loved to see us laughing and smile. We know you enjoyed life.
Today, we ask of God to take you in His care and grace and giving you eternal rest in His glory.
Thank you, Soupy Sales, for making our lives a bit easier to bear on this earth. Enjoy your rest.

The DARK and EVIL SIDE of FACEBOOK and TWITTER!

G'day Everyone.

Social Networking, are they the Good Jedi or Evil Sith as some describe they are? That is something you have to decide of. But, you need to read this article today:
http://www.walletpop.com/economizer/article/how-social-media-can-be-costly-to-your/721020?icid=mainmaindl3link3http%3A%2F%2Fwww.walletpop.com%2Feconomizer%2Farticle%2Fhow-social-media-can-be-costly-to-your%2F721020

If that doesn't scare you enough, then read about some rules for using the social network sites:
http://www.dolans.com/blog/entry/72798/6-Simple-Rules-to-Protect-Yourself-on-Social-Media-Sites/

Three big basic rules should be followed: 1. Don't broadcast where you are. Thieves like this very much. It broadcasting an opportunity for someone to raid your home or your office. Don't ever say where you are at. Just say you are busy.

2. Don't friend every "friend" in the social network. Do keep your profile LOCKED from outsiders. I say this because you don't want someone to data mine your profile to use it against you. When you get a "friend request", ask questions. Ask them "HOW DO YOU KNOW ME"? Ask for some specific info. If that person doesn't respond specifically to the info you ask them, then do a "FRIEND REQUEST DENIED"! Follow up with REPORT/BLOCK THIS PERSON.
When I get a Friend request, I do ask questions. If it doesn't match that I know, I report and block that person. Lately, a lot of women have been hitting on me for "Friend request"s. I take action by ignore and then Report/block. I report it as an unwanted friend requests.

3. Don't give your employer your social network access. I recently noticed some "unfriendly" people that tried to "friend" me. I did a little backtracking and traced it back to employer or a two. I'm not ashamed to lose a job opportunity. But hey, my social life isn't open to employers!

So, that being said, my overall basic advice is this: be careful what you say on Facebook or twitter or any other social network site. Unless your home and your office has an excellent security system, you may want to be a bit more careful.

Social Networking: Good Jedi or Evil Sith sites? You decide.

Interesting things in the Deaf blog world history.

G'day Everyone.

In 1988, we didn't have much of an Internet services. We had to rely on old fashioned devices of TTYs and word of mouth to talk about what went on at Gallaudet University. The first protest had hit the campus. By the time the extensive media coverage was over, Gallaudet was changed forever. It was the only time our deaf community came together to make history. It was beneficial then. Jordan became our President of GU then. By then bulletin board systems (bbs) were just then on dial-up.

By the time the Internet service providers started, we finally came off the dial-up boards and chat rooms. We finally had new ways to communicate. Then came the 2006 protest that took the Deaf blog world and the campus by the storm. The media came again. Instead of TTYs, we had pagers and side kicks galore. There came the division of the Gallaudet campus after the protest. I would say it was the "PERFECT DEAF COMMUNICATION STORM" at that time. History got changed again.

After Jordan left and Davila came in as a temporary President, Davila had the challenge to pull our campus and the deaf community together again. For the most part, Davila was suppose to have been there for a year or a two. But, no.. it was three years before the GU BOTs finally realized they better get their act together and find someone to replace the temporary (now our 9th) President Davila. But Davila did change and transformed the campus. "Team Gallaudet" was the theme of his era.

Present time: Here we are in the age of modern blogs, Instant Messengers, emails, sidekicks, cell phones and various pagers. The recent addition to our Deaf communication culture is various types of Video Phones(VPs).

Yet, save for Sunday, October 18th, 2009. In a very cautious low-key event by the GU Board of Trustees, Dr. Alan Hurwitz was announced and selected as the 10th President of Gallaudet University. It was kind of a way that would kick-off the opening events for the Gallaudet University Homecoming this week. As President-elect Hurwits begins his transition from NTID to GU, President Davila enters his last 2.5 months in lame duck status.

We all seem to be in a congratulations mode that the GU community will finally move on from the events that have plagued this campus. By the time Davila departs on December 31, Hurwits has to work to bring some of the brightest deaf and hearing minds to attend Gallaudet University. He has to bring the number of students attending GU to higher level. What will Hurwitz's theme be when he starts his duties? I don't think he will continue "Team Gallaudet". I believe he will create a NEW theme.

By the time we all arrive on campus for the homecoming, this should be a time of celebration. A time to hope that the coming five years will put Gallaudet University back on the Higher Education map. Not because of popularity, but for the purpose that Gallaudet can train the deaf and hard of hearing to work professionally in the hearing community.

When January 2010 happens, Davila is retired again. The era of troublesome times are past and the Hurwitz era begins. Best wishes and prayers are for you Dr. Hurwitz, because we have a long road to travel down. Let's hope it's a smooth one!

Let's celebrate this GU Homecoming 2009 as one of the best days to happen!

Aftermath of the weekend.

G'day everyone.

Shifting through the aftermath of the weekend. PSU wins and crushes the Gophers. Yankees wins and crushes the Angeles. Pittsburgh Wins and crushes the browns. Eagles got defeathered yesterday. Last night, The Phillies made Dodgers pay for winning game 2 by whipping their butts in a form of 11-0 score. Phillies had NO MERCY at the bat this time. (I warned my friend it would happen and it did!).

But, I sat down to read the emails and many comments related to the aftermath of the selection of the next DEAF President of Gallaudet University of the announcement made on Sunday. Most of the comments were unprintable.

However, I began to think about something. In this age of Economic Recession, there are thousands of people out of work. Many of them with the high professional Doctorate (PHD degrees as well. There has to be SOME hearing people that have a background in Deaf Education and fluent in ASL. If there were such hearing candidates that would be eligible to apply for the position of the President of Gallaudet University, then why were they NOT included in the recent process? I can understand Gallaudet University wanting a deaf president. But, if we don't open the process to others, then we have lost the benefits of a hearing educator that wants to insure that improvements are made for the Deaf community in a college setting.

We MUST face reality of life. We, the deaf community, have spent our lives fighting for equal access, equal rights, and accessibility for all with the Hearing Community. What if, in the very moment of this life, if the hearing community were to demand all of the Deaf access to the hearing community were to be taken away at once? How would then we feel of being shoved back to 2nd class citizen status again? We would have to, once more, fight our way back to where we are today. We earned this access with the hearing community. We must work with them every day.

Look at Jane K. Fernandes. She works for the University of North Carolina-Asheville! Link:
http://www.unca.edu/admin/co/administration.html

I seriously doubt that Fernandes had gone up to the UNC Board of Trustees and say "Hire me, I'm deaf!". No! I believe she let her credentials speak for themselves and let the hearing community do their best judgment. That was how she got hired. How many more deaf people can compete for top jobs in the hearing world out there?

As NTID prepares their next search process for the next President of NTID, I call upon RIT President Destler that he *MUST* ensure and promote that their NTID search committee does *NOT limit* their searches to Deaf candidates, but to consider ALL CANDIDATES EQUALLY!! The next President of NTID should not be just deaf, but someone with ASL knowledge, Deaf Education, and having the proper credentials for position.

RIT learned much from the Gallaudet University 2006 protest and developed new ideas in their search that landed President Bill Destler. I hope that NTID will take extra care and make it a year long process to involve everyone in the NTID community. Just like RIT did.

I have to slap on the Associated Press *HARD* here. Associated Press, Don't think that Gallaudet University will always have a protest when it comes down to the selection of the next President. The lone 2 important events that happened on the campus of Gallaudet University will always be apart of history, but it has opened our eyes twice to what has gone on with the Gallaudet University Board of Trustees.

Searching for a President of a college should not be done in such a sort time. CSUN? I remember they were looking for 2 years before they finally settled on someone they wanted. It should be the BEST person for the job, not just some one being popular in the deaf community and well liked by the hearing community.

So in 5 years from now, when President Hurwitz's time comes to a close at Gallaudet University, let's hope that next Gallaudet University Board of Trustees and their next Presidential Search Advisory Comittee (PSAC) will cast a broad network to look for the VERY BEST CANDIDATE, hearing or deaf, to be the next President of GU.
At this point, I wish President Hurwitz in the best of his efforts to lead Gallaudet University in the coming years.

Lastly, today I'm very pleased of the announcement coming out from NTID:
http://www.ntid.rit.edu/media/full_text.php?article_id=1061
I am sure Mr. DeCaro will provide excellent leadership in the interim for the full year, starting December 1, 2009. God bless Mr. DeCaro!

Questions arise in the selection of Hurwitz.

G'day Everyone!

I couldn't believe in shock that Dr. Alan Hurwitz was selected for the President of Gallaudet University! The National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has just lost a wonderful leader on their campus. I can imagine the *SHOCK* that students are feeling that NTID will soon be going through their own process of finding the next Director / Leader of NTID.

But now, I want to question why the Board of Trustees of GU would hire ANOTHER administrator that has experience of NTID/RIT? It is very questionable. Is there a connection between NTID/RIT and GU? Was a deal made for some reason that Hurwitz was selected?

Honestly, the best candidate that should have been chosen was Dr. ROSLYN Rosen.

But it will be debated for ages to come of who should have been the next President of GU.
For now, it is time for the Students, staff, Professors, and Alumni of NTID to start looking hard and questioning to Dr. Hurwitz when he returns to NTID of why he wants to leave NTID. Hopefully, Hurwitz will defend his decision well to everyone, as well as the RIT Board of Trustees.

Wet and wild day.

G'day Everyone!

I'm sitting in my favorite Quarterback Arm Chair and relaxing before the afternoon NFL games begins today. I will have to punt my chair away in order to be watching for Gallaudet's History Day to begin at 12noon. Call it a drama, but it will in a way kick-off the 75th homecoming week that will end in a big party on Saturday. But will it be a party? Only if the Gallaudet University Board of Trustees picks the RIGHT person to manage the future of Gallaudet University. In a matter of hours, we will find out. I encourage many people to log on to: http://psac.gallaudet.edu for further updates.

Meanwhle in Football mode: I heard that Gallaudet University played some sloppy football in bone chilling conditions on the artificial turf of the field. It makes me wonder if all that investment for a fake field was worth the expense of it? The Bisons had loss to Catholic University by a score of 38-13. Bison season record is now 3-4. This coming Saturday is the Gallaudet University's 75th Homecoming. The Bisons host Becker College as it's the last home season game at Gallaudet University at 1pm. Let's hope Coach Hottle prepares the Bison team better for this game!

Speaking of college homecoming games, yesterday was a MORE worse bone chilling day in Happy Valley, PA! Yes, State College, PA had snow on the ground and it was freezing as heck and light rain fell. But you know what? The Penn State Nittany Lions didn't care as long as their turf field was going to be happy for them. They had a PEST of a team to show up for their home coming game day. It was the Minnesota Gophers. But the Gophers couldn't get anywhere past the Nittany Lions. In the end, the Nittany Lions made it a sweet PSU home coming day worth it to chill through in the stands. Score: Nittany Lions 20 - Gophers 0. That was to say, every time the Gophers peeked out of their hole to go for the goal line, they got clawed to shreds and Gophers had to hide in their hole. Maybe the Gophers wish they were playing a caddy shack team (fat chance that'll ever likely happen).

Let's hope today will be great history day at GU!

Just ONE day.

G'day Everyone.

Just one day. Just one day to what is termed to be History Sunday on the campus of Gallaudet University. Just one day that will be the formal announcement of WHO is the NEXT President of Gallaudet University. Then, it will be the reaction of students, staff, Professors, and alumni to see if they accept or reject the selection.

I am in hopes that the Gallaudet Board of Trustees made a GOOD JUDGEMENT call of their own and not on the suggestions by the Presidential Selection Advisory Committee (PSAC). However, if the few months search instead of a year long search brings about a good candidate, then they will have gotten a lucky break.

Many of people will be watching the event tomorrow on campus and on the web page.
Just hope the person selected will be the RIGHT person for the Office of the Gallaudet University President.

Should you punt your SideKick?

G'day Everyone.

Pagers, Cell phones, and sidekicks. Every day we are connected by some provider services to handle our communication needs in the deaf community. However, there has been a quiet outrage in the deaf community that has built into anger at T-mobile and Microsoft over the loss of their useless sidekicks devices that have been malfunctioning for a while.
Here's the article: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13860_3-10375186-56.html . One should note that Jamie Berke is in this article.

Many of my friends are now questioning their T-mobile services. The longer the sidekicks malfunctions, the more users will consider dumping them for other communication devices. I hope Microsoft and T-mobile will get to work and fix their services asap, or else they will lose a wonderful support that they have had with the deaf community.

Whatever you choose for a communication device, do research, ask questions, and talk to current users of their devices. See how they like their devices.

Concerns of GU's coming history day.

G'day Everyone.

The last 24 hours, I have been thinking about Gallaudet University's coming history day on Sunday, October 18th, 2009. But the timing of the announcement? You'd have to watch a certain page on the Gallaudet web site. That site would be : http://psac.gallaudet.edu/PSAC.html.

Who may it be? At the end of my poll, which I took down today, had Dr. Hurwitz in the lead by a vote of 105, followed by Rosen of a vote of 96, Stern took in 54 votes, weiner came in dead last with 39 votes. Thanks to all who voted in the poll.

Meanwhile, already there is spoofing going on in the blog world. Look at Deaf anthology's blog:
http://deafanthology.blogspot.com/2009/10/headlines-dr-roslyn-rosen-gallaudets.html
but like he says, it's fictional stuff. But if he comes out accurate, that'll be a shock to me that Rosen is our next president.

So in the next few days, I'm very sure we're hope that Sunday will come fast so that all can be revealed to the Gallaudet University community of who will replace President Davila. I would be sure that President Davila is already counting the next 2.5 months to return to his retirement and enjoy his relaxing days in his home with his wife.

ALERT ALERT! Announcement On SUNDAY OCT 18 for GU!

G'day Everyone!

Breaking News! History is about to once again touch Gallaudet University. According to the campus memo that was distributed to both students and alumni, this is what it said:

There will be an announcement on Sunday, October 18th, 2009 in the Swindells auditorium. (That's in the GUKCC hotel area).

The memo doesn't give a time table. But one should expect that it will be packed and most likely will be broadcasted on the Bison TV and on the GU webcast.

PSAC has done their job (HOPEFULLY, they did the RIGHT job).
At the present, a Transition team called Presidential Transition Advisory Committee (PTAC) has been selected and are about to get to work to make the campus into a transition from Davila to whoever is the next President of GU.

History is calling upon Gallaudet University again once more. Will the Board of Trustees pick their right choice? I hope so.

Only one caveat: if it's Dr. Weiner, he must resign his position as provost immediately. We can't have a provost/president-elect for any reason like Jane Fernandes was for an amount of time.

As my poll closes today, Hurwitz remains the leader. Rosen is second choice. Stern remains 3rd choice and Weiner is dead last. There were few votes to reopen the process to continue the search for other candidates. Some wanted Davila to remain on as President, but folks, he wants to go back to retirement. He's earned it.

Stay tuned for the dramatic conclusion of this Presidential election!

Christmas in October.

G'day Everyone.

Christmas in October. Humm. Here's the article I found: http://money.cnn.com/2009/10/11/news/economy/holiday_jobs/index.htm?cnn=yes

The biggest wish that will be ON THE MINDS OF MILLIONS OF UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE THIS YEAR? "All I want for CHRISTMAS is: A JOB!". It will be on the minds of many people as we are nearing the holiday season.

I have been wishing that Halloween could be renamed Fall Harvest Festival in a way that would celebrate a light harvest feast. I've seen too many places where people celebrate Halloween as an excuse to glorify evil, death, and destruction. This world is so war weary, that Halloween ought to be shelved permanently and replace it with a Harvest festival as to thank God for a wonderful early harvest of the growing season, while Thanksgiving would mark the end of the growing season completely.

I really wish the retailers would stop hawking Christmas stuff so early! When I went to the Lowes store the other night (Friday night) for a few things, I was passing by the nursery area. Just a few days ago, it was a full garden store. Then someone must have made a decision to haul out the Christmas lights and decorate every fake Christmas tree in stock they had. The result was a multi-color glow that looked like a psychic rock show department!! I couldn't believe it. Neither could other shoppers as well. One parent decided to BLINDFOLD her kid so that the kid wouldn't start going hyper sooner. Hawking Christmas stuff early does not, I REPEAT, does not stimulate the economy.
I used to love the retailers and the malls that would WAIT until close of business on the day before Thanksgiving and then begin the massive 48 hours of transforming the business and the mall into a Christmas paradise. The first Friday (dark Friday) of the Christmas shopping, you could go on a "tour" of the stores and the mall and see HOW DIFFERENT everything is. You would then be filled with the holiday spirit and be in the mood to shop for presents early as possible.
But now, it's just pushed too early. It's sad.

So what are my wishes for Christmas this year? The top of my list is a JOB. Everything else is all secondary.
Here's a blooper of the day:
http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/08/google-street-view-confirms-elephantitis-strikes-deer-population/?icid=mainmaindl4link4http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autoblog.com%2F2009%2F10%2F08%2Fgoogle-street-view-confirms-elephantitis-strikes-deer-population%2F
You might be thinking that person needs either a gift of a new computer or some really new glasses because if that's a NEW species of "deer", Canada ought to brace for hunters! (just kidding).

one last thing: if you haven't vote in the poll, please vote. It closes tomorrow.
till next post, Semper FI.

Obama, Phillies, and Yankees.

G'day Everyone.

The news world and the blog world were both shocked to hear that President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. When I heard it, I sat in shock and couldn't believe it. Obama has just been barely 10 months in his office when he won this award. I sincerely think that there are many other people in this world who should have been given the chance to win a Nobel Peace prize. There are many important people trying to resolve the middle East problems, the taliban /Osama bin Laden, North Korea, and Iran/Iraq. These are people who should be honored for TRYING to bring peace to this war weary world.

The Phillies and Yankees are trying to do their best to win the games. Presently the Yankees hold a 2-0 lead over the Minn Twins. I think the Twins are wishing they lost to Detroit and were relaxing in post season and dreaming of next year.
Meanwhile, Boston Red Sox better dig out some clean soxs because they're stinking like last years mold already. LA Angels hold a 2-0 lead over Boston already.

Phillies are fighting with the Colorado Rockies. The Series is split 1-1. Expect some bat attacks on both sides TONIGHT at 9:37pm in Colorado on TBS. It should be very interesting game.

LA Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals. Dodgers are beating those birds bloody red already. If the Dodgers win two more games, they ought to celebrate with a chicken Bar-b-que as their feast! Expect another rout tonight at 6:07pm on TBS. Game is at the LA Dodgers home.

My friend and I have a BIG wish this year. We both want to see the Yankees and the Phillies in the BIG WORLD SERIES BATTLE! So it's our October 2009 wish! GO YANKEES, GO PHILLIES! What happens when it finally does happen? Will my friend and I be enemies? Nope. It's going to be one of the best presents of friendship to enjoy a wonderful baseball game together. What if the Phillies and Yankees don't win? Ahh well, there's always 2010 season! :-)

So enjoy the weekend out there!

"You lie" gets replaced with "Die Quickly"

G'day Everyone.

Congress is going through an ugly law year. It was not too long ago, when President Obama made his health care speech to a joint session of Congress, it was then Joe Wilson's "YOU LIE!" that became infamous through out the nation. http://thedeafsherlock.blogspot.com/2009/09/you-lie-caption-action-2.html . I'm still very happy that Joe Wilson said of what he could say for thousands of Americans in public to the President compared to those that would curse our president right at our TV set. I condemn congress for giving condemnation to Joe Wilson. If Joe Wilson wins his next election, I'll be happy to see him in Congress again! GO JOE WILSON!

But who do I really hate right now? The Florida Representative Alan Grayson, a Democrat! With Apologies to Micah Brown, I heard Grayson's speech that pretty much SHOCKED the nation while we are talking about Health Care Insurance for many people.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/08/alan.grayson/index.html
The part he said in his speech: "Don't get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly." . It quickly became the new firestorm in congress. Alan Grayson is NO liberal hero. He never was one.
I call upon congress to TRULY CONDEMN this Democrat for his remarks. I call upon his Florida district to impeach him and oust him at the coming November election.

Nobody should have to ever hear something like this. I'm sure many insurance companies would love to say this to every sick patient out there that becomes a drain on their finances. But know what? The drug companies would strangle the insurance companies completely of their wish. I'm very sure the drug companies would love to STRANGLE Rep. Alan Grayson for his "Die Quickly" remarks because drug companies DEPENDS on sick people to keep them in business. I would think that, who ever runs against Rep. Alan Grayson, will most likely be backed by the drug companies.

I believe this health care debate is at a critical point in our nation. Many doctors, nurses, hospitals, health insurance companies, and drug companies are all concerned of how this is going to turn out, good or bad. But for some one like Rep. Grayson's remarks were saying, I say WOE to the future of Health Care in USA. Pray for our nation to stay healthy because we must be healthy!

Political minefields 2009 / Baseball play-offs 2009

G'day everyone.

In less than a month away to the November 2009 Election day is about to happen. Nobody doesn't like to hear these "NEW" political people that want to step up and say 'I'll bring change to our State or our Federal government..blah blah blah".

My response: *FLUSH*. Some political people actually do their jobs. Others are only interested in greed and power. It's not a wonderful thought. The worst is when these candidates do robocalling. Once these robocallers hit my home, I'll take their names and then call the people who run the "DO NOT CALL LIST". These people actually take the caller's name and numbers, then go after them with a FINE of DO NOT CALL LIST VIOLATIONS. I'm pretty well known already. But so far, the robocallers haven't hit my home yet as it's the last month for political influence. I predict by the week of Halloween, they'll hit in a horror type way. *scary music theme* Not looking forward to it.

Here in PA, Governor Ed Rundell has already proven himself to be a total lameduck governor already. By the time the state budget ever passes, he's already ruined the economic chances for everyone in PA. Does that give him the right to try for another term of Governor of PA? I'd say NO. While the blame game goes on, the state of PA is economically frozen. Now that's scary!

Meanwhile, we are about to soon hear who will be the next President of Gallaudet University. If you haven't done your survey yet, please do it soon. My poll due to close soon. Presently, Rosen and Hurwitz are in *DEAD HEAT* suddenly. WOW! Will the BOTS of GU vote that way too? We'll soon find out.

Baseball season play-offs: I'm very excited this year. The Philadelphia Phillies are back in the contention to DEFEND their World Series title. So here's who's who in the big BAT BATTLE:

American League:
East Division: NY Yankees have to fight off their nemesis, the dreaded Boston Red Sox (wild card)! Won't the damn Sox ever go away? See if the Boston Red Sox get tossed out of the first round.
Central Division: still up for grabs. Hopefully Detroit will defeat Minnesota today. Game is at 5:07pm. Expect ESPN to show it!
West Division: Los Angeles Angles is in good command.

National League:
East Division: Philadelphia Phillies. In total command of their destiny now!
Central Division: St. Louis Cardinals. Expect these poor birds to bleed again this year. Last year they were beaten soundly and lost all their feathers. Will their beak bats be sharp and feathers be bright? We'll soon see.
West Division: Another Los Angeles team (Dodgers) is also in the hunt.

So who's going for the World series? The battle of the play-offs will begin on Friday, October 16.
The World Series Battle will begin on October 28. Interesting to note there is a game on October 31: Halloween! That one has to be SCARY to watch!
So here's what I hope to see happen in the world series:
Dream #1: Phillies vs Yankees battle. A little I-95 series battle. It's a good match up.
Dream #2: Phillies vs Angels or Dodgers. A nice West Coast vs East Coast battle.

What if the Phillies get beat out of the race this year? A scary thought being October! But if that happens:
Dream #3: Yankees vs Angels or Dodgers. Still a nice West Coast vs East Coast battle!
Dream #4: The Baseball Quake battle! If LA Dodgers and LA Angels beat out everyone else in the play-off race here, I say if these two LA teams were to have an LA Baseball WORLD SERIES, expect the echos of the bats cracks to feel like a Quake hit! California would certainly go crazy of having one big World Series party in their state. I think it would be a shot in the arm for that to happen given to how everything has happened in California lately.

So there we are. Anything can happen in the next few weeks. Get ready and be excited!

Semper FI!

Update: Just found this out, the Phillies will begin their baseball battle tomorrow! It'll be Phillies vs Colorado Rockies series. First game is at 2:37pm on Wednesday, October 7 in Philadelphia! It will be on the TBS channel. GO PHILLIES!

Catching up on the posts.

G'day Everyone!

I'm catching up on a few things and for me, it's my blog. I've been busy in my life some times, I can't say where I am but be proactive in what I do.

First, let me send a BIG CHEER and *HUGS* to my best friend and fellow blogger, Robert Goodwin on his birthday. *HIP HIP HOORAY!* Happy Birthday to you! He's got a post up about SWAT calls (he linked to Jamie Berke's article in Deafness about.com) and of course this was talked about some time ago. http://rsgeo007.blogspot.com/2009/10/relay-swat-calls.html
One thing is, if a swat police invade your home, stop, drop, and don't do anything to provoke these sons of bitches because they're the ones that are pranked by the Internet relay caller and believe me, lawyers are going to have a DAMN FIELD DAY in the courts. (reminder to jamie: your swat article needs an update a bit!!).

Second, depending on how GU will be voting this month of October 2009 now that the Presidential candidates have had their say of who's best for the position, check my latest poll numbers. Dr. Rosa Rosen still leads the poll so far. Followed right behind by Dr. Alan Hurwitz. So how will the Gallaudet University Board of Trustees vote? We'll soon know in a few weeks. If you haven't voted yet, please vote. The poll closes in 9 days.

From what I heard, the Gallaudet University job fair was very well attended last week by students and local alumni. Lots of government offices showed up and many people handed in resumes and being told to sign up more on the web pages. Some got good interviews.
The Fall NTID Job Fair is coming up on Oct 14. Check out the web link: http://www.ntid.rit.edu/media/full_text.php?article_id=1056
Should be a good turn out!

Sports dept: humm.. rebounding from losses. Penn State University Nittany Lions had a good road game against the Illinois University Illini last Saturday. While the Illini were boasting how good they did against Ohio State, they should have checked their egos. PSU came in fighting mad to save their season and boy, did they do just that! For PSU QB Darryl Clark, it was his own redemption and Joe PA's own redemption to save their season. Even if PSU isn't a national championship contender, they had to save the season. For the Illini? Sunk for a while.

Meanwhile, the Bisons of Gallaudet University managed to notch another win in their column and go 3-2 for the season. The pigskin battle continues this coming weekend when Norwich University visits the Bison field. Go BISON GO! In two weeks, get ready for the Gallaudet University Homecoming!

So as another work week happens, just do your best!

The vote ready to happen at GU

G'day Everyone.

In the next 24-72 hours, the massive vote is about to happen on the campus of Gallaudet University and for all the alumni across the nation and the World. History is about to be made again and hopefully, this time it will be a peaceful process.

So far, we have heard from Weiner, Rosen, and Stern. Yesterday and today, it has been Dr. Alan Hurwitz's turn to speak and make his case of why he should be President of Gallaudet University. Once his time to speak is over, the time for us, as Gallaudet University Community, begins to vote who should lead us into the 21st Century.

In my emails, it has been a mixed reaction among students and alumni of who they feel best to lead the GU Community. I, myself, feel that Rosa Rosen will get the nod. But that depends on the greater vote. Hopefully, the Board of Trustees will follow the campus community and make a wise selection.

Once the selection happens, the GU Community should expect a SMOOTH transition from the Davila era into the next president's era.

This should be a good month of October 2009.
