G'day everyone!
What a weekend. It's been a weekend of which I've had some interesting times. But at the present, I'm sorting out my feelings over a few things. If I decide to share it with you here on my blog, I might. At the present, I'm kind of keeping it to myself and talking to a few confident people about it.
Though I will say that I have enjoyed meeting an old friend this past weekend and had a wonderful blast at her graduation party in a local park. It's been a HOT and STORMY all weekend. She joked when I arrived at her home on Friday, I brought the storms with me and when I was leaving for home, I was taking the storms with me. We laughed about that my new nick name was "the storm man". I said "yeah, right".
Although I was "tweeting" on face book that I was out and about, I kind of made it look like that I was around in my area. But I was out of the area. So I wanted to protect my home. It just an idea of concern. Needless to say, it worked quite well.
Where I was at, the thunderstorms were VERY strong. In some places, lots of hail. At the same time, I was watching the local news channel in which I saw a very bad car accident. It's sad to hear a driver and her kids die in it.
I'm back home now. A few storm damages to clean up, but nothing serious. Getting back to job searching and writing on this blog. In the coming days, I will be posting some articles and quoting on the news events.
So hope everyone keeps cool as the dog days begins.
Major salute to Carolyn Sherman for her graduation from college.

Elephants, Rhinos, Lions, and Tigers, OH MY!
G'day Everyone!
I know that my title post sounds so much like a circus theme today. But after last night's experience at the Lycoming County Fair seems the correct thing to describe the VERY HEAVY Thunderstorm. I knew it was going to storm when I got to the fair at 7pm. But reading the sky that was darkening it had "BAD" written all over it. My mistake! It was a DOWNPOUR YOU WON'T FORGET FOR A LONG TIME storm! My other mistake was keeping my hearing aid on! *augh* Not funny. It was kind of having a senior moment when you are having fun after a long day. Don't worry. I came prepared a bit. I had my umbrella which is one of those HUGE Gallaudet University umbrellas. Golfer's umbrellas. Much to say, I had some jealous stares when I'm walking with a big one.
Not long after I got to the fair, I walked straight to the seafood shack which is NEW this year. I ordered a dozen steamed clams. Oh man, I loved these clams. When I asked the owner of the seafood shack where he got these clams, I had expected them to be coming from the local seafood market. Instead he tells me he gets them STRAIGHT from Maine! I didn't bother to ask HOW he got them from Maine, but the appreciation of having clams straight from the docks of Maine harbors makes it a sweet summer moment. Totally delicious stuff. I asked him if he's coming back for next year's county fair. He said "catch up with me at the Bloomsburg, PA Fair (Pa State fair) and I'll let you know".
After that, I continued to walk on a bit, as I was on a surf and turf theme dinner night, I found the Beef Pit. The roast beef sandwich was very EXCELLENT! I was told that they had just sliced it a short time ago and were in hopes of selling it off before the storm hit. I told them to do what they can do.
While I sat down to eat, it began to rain lightly. Then it fell heavy. AND THEN.. yeah, there's another then, IT POURED SO HARD, I couldn't believe it. I was in a tent shelter that was fairly dry. Some one said "this isn't your average Cats and Dogs raining!" I said "More like Elephants, Rhinos, Lions, and Tigers, OH MY storm!". We did a double take and then realize that if a tornado hit now, we'd be going to OZ without Toto. Thankfully, no tornado hit.
I managed to angle my umbrella and my hat to protect my hearing aid but even so, that was risky. I could feel my shoes being WET all the more and realized that there was a chance a stray rain drop could hit my hearing aid. I ducked into a building where I knew an owner of a stand there. I asked if he had a plastic bag and he gladly gave one to me. I took my hearing aid off and wrapped it up tightly in a double bag. It wasn't water proof but it would protect it. I held that bag so tight to me, I was afraid of losing it.
The fair closed early, fireworks cancelled, and had to cross and go through puddles and ponds. I thought for a moment I saw an image of Noah's ark floating somewhere in the darkness of the farm fields. I did a double take and said "nah, I've just had a long day". Driving home in the dark and rain is not always fun. But at least I made it with my hearing aid still working! :-)
As the Lycoming County Fair wraps up this weekend, I also have weekend plans as well. You ask me what's my plans? Sorry, I'm being tight lipped on this one. I will say that I will have an enjoyable weekend. I hope you will also have an enjoyable weekend too.
So till next post

A killer's conviction overturned due to a Deaf Juror
G'day Everyone!
Here we go again. *Flash* Just found on http://deafness.about.com/ is a very important issue that involves a deaf juror, prosecutors, the judge, and a hearing killer's MURDER conviction OVERTURNED! Here's the link: http://deafness.about.com/b/2009/07/22/deaf-killers-go-free.htm.
If that wasn't enough of a summary on Jamie's Deafness.about.com blog, then you should go STRAIGHT to the source: http://www.ohio.com/news/51316367.html.
Right now, I am shocked and outraged. WHY?
First, how could the judge and prosecutors let a deaf juror sit on the jury panel WITHOUT any type of assistance in a major court trial? What were they thinking? Were they thinking "if we can SKIMP on costs of hiring a sign language interpreter or CART services, we can hope that the jury panel assists this deaf juror". They were also in hopes that this juror would be able to read lips through out the trial. Such thinking, as this may have been their thought, is a FATAL FLAW of the court proceedings. Especially when the 911 tape was played in it and you gotta be hearing to hear it.
Second, did the deaf juror fellow members of her panel assist her? Did they help her during the deliberations? Such questions are followed with more questions. It gets more complex to follow.
When the Ohio.com article mentions the NAD being involved in this situation, I checked the http://www.nad.com/ blog site for information. What I found was the current post about the North Carolina legislators that are debating a bill that could PREVENT deaf people from sitting on the jury panel for any reason. This appeals court in Ohio could support the legislators decisions on passing their bill which would doom many good deaf citizens from doing the honorable jury duty work. see: http://www.nad.org/blogs/lindanelson/north-carolina-legislators-oppose-deaf-jurors . Though the news is hitting through out the deaf community, I would be very interested to see what NAD says about the State of Ohio Court ruling on the deaf juror.
As the case now heads to the State of Ohi0's Supreme Court, things are going to get WAY interesting to see how they rule in this. If the State of Ohio upholds the appeal court's decision, it will get bad. Very bad. In terms of voter outrage on the judge and the prosecutor, they could get recalled and lose their office for sure in this election year.
I would recommend every judge and prosecutor to review their court's department readiness in support a deaf juror. They should change their jury survey forms to ask if the person was:
hearing
Deaf
Hard of hearing.
It is not meant as a dismissal by screening, but rather to provide the court with an ability to honor the ADA laws and make sure that a deaf juror is able to be a part of the panel. They should be prepared with certified Sign Language interpreters ready to be called into court and put to work in a court proceeding.
If there was an UNFAIR advantage in this Ohio case, it clearly belonged to the defense lawyers who used it to their own benefit to get their client off the hook in the appeals court. Just about any lawyer knows the basics of the ADA law. If the judge and the prosecutor don't know the ADA laws? Then they shouldn't be in the state of Ohio court anymore!
In this day and age, we depend on the ADA law pretty much. It's a strong law that makes the deaf community work in the hearing world.
The one thing that if you read all the comments in the Ohio.com of this, the outrage is about on both sides of the issue. In the coming days, we will be hearing important decisions.
Stay tuned.
Major thanks and salute to Jamie Berke and Robert Goodwin for the heads up on this issue.

Results of the Poll
G'day Everyone!
The results of the poll are in and related to the post that I had done about a fellow deaf citizen who was tasered in his own home by police that were on a FALSE CALL. Please review that post:
http://thedeafsherlock.blogspot.com/2009/07/50k-settlement.html
The poll results are:
The Question: Does $50,000 covers the cost of a False Call Police Invasion?
About 20 people took the question. It was a low response.
The answers were:
8 people or 40% said that it needs more money. That is to say if the city were to offer more money to the home owner to make it a clear good faith effort to keep it out of court and out of the hands of the jury.
1 person said that it needs to be LESS money. (el-cheapo. sides will the city? If the police invade your home, you'll want to barricade your home better!)
3 people or 15% said that the person, who was the victim of police invasion/false call, should sue for $500 Thousand Dollars. That would be a hell of a good settlement. But it would be a good advantage to force the city to really consider a FAIR settlement and admit that they should have change some procedures out there .
8 people or 40% believe should have sued the city, rejected the $50 thousand dollar settlement, and let the court and jury decide the final settlement.
Thanks for taking part in the survey.

Sniffing the air, Fall's coming!
G'day Everyone!
Ever step out into the morning sun (or shade of the trees), sniff the air, and then sense there's a change in the season? Yep, there is a sense of the Fall 2009 season about to happen soon. Makes you feel like we haven't gone through the hot dog days of August yet.
But open your newspapers and you'll see advertisements by stores like K-mart, Target, Wal-mart, and Staples starting to have specials on the Back-to-School sales. You can hear the THOUSANDS of kids and adults do a collective *GROAN* about school. Elementary and high school students *hate* school until they graduate and then when they're in college, they'll miss it like crazy and wish they didn't hate it so much.
College students have to take the responsibility of homework MORE SERIOUSLY than before.
But in this age of economics, I would encourage college students to drink less, study more, and go for being the honor student status. All that hard work pays off of getting a major job offer.
But sadly, the older adults are making their way back to college after fruitless job searches. Why? Because the industry is changing and many positions are either gone or disbanded temporary. I was considering going back to school this fall, but decided against hope of taking the fall semester for job hunting one last time.
Between now and the next few weeks, many colleges will begin having football camps to train the incoming freshmen players and preparing for the college football season. For Joe Paterno of the Penn State Nittany Lions, it should be a good year. That is if Ohio State University beats USC in a game that's going to be most watched on TV very closely.
This season will be an important one for the Gallaudet University Bisons. Head Coach Ed Hottle will be on the hot seat since last season had more losses than wins. Will our Bisons be ready to take on many of the Division 3 teams? Or will more losses mean it'll be Coach Hottle's last season? We'll know soon enough by the time Homecoming in October happens.
It's also GU President Davila's last few months in office. I'm in hopes that the Presidential Search Advisory Committee will do their responsibilities correctly and give us some QUALIFIED candidates to be examined and questioned for the office of President of Gallaudet. I'm praying that the right person will be selected for Gallaudet University. Gallaudet's future depends on the right person being named WITHOUT a protest happening again. 2 protests are enough. A third one would be bad to happen.
So, enjoy what's left of Summer 2009. Prepare for the classes. Be ready to study hard and get great grades.

The Deaf Juror Debate!
G'day Everyone.
There is a debate going on about being a Deaf Juror on the jury in a court trial. Mishka Zena ought to be thanked for posting this article directly to the news paper it had on:
http://projects.newsobserver.com/tags/sb293_09
It pisses me off that some political person wants to change the ADA law and preventing us, a deaf citizen from doing our obligation by law if we are called for jury duty.
While it's rare to happen in a small to mid-size town for a deaf person to be called, it can often happen in a major city.
Yes, it's a headache for a court when they realize a deaf citizen is called to jury duty. Often a judge has an option to dismiss the deaf from jury duty. I got fortunate a few months ago, when I was called to duty, the court had forgotten about me, despite the number of times I've asked for an interpreter for selection.
Not to be outdone, I relied on the kindness of strangers and many visual cues that I had to pick up on as well as paying hard attention to all the details. I could have sat quietly and ignored it all and not been called. I got called, got seated, and posed a challenge. I could have made the trial wait for an interpreter. Instead, I relied on the phonic ear system which I was used to early in my life and did quite well.
Just one thing, if you are on the jury: watch out if you are picked to be the FOREPERSON. That is, the jury leader. No hearing person wants to be the person that has to read the "DREADED VERDICT". It's ugly thing to do.
I'm not going to recount my entire days of my jury duty other than how glad I am that it's over and don't expect it to happen again in my life.
But how do you feel, my dear readers, if you were called to jury duty. Would you do it? or would you do what you can to avoid it? I'd like to hear comments from you.

In Memory of Walter Cronkite
G'day Everyone!
Last night, I was SHOCKED to hear that Walter Cronkite passed on to eternity.
Links: http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/07/17/walter.cronkite.dead/index.html

http://www.life.com/image/71526969/in-gallery/28612/remembering-walter-cronkite
Walter Cronkite was my friend and hero on TV that I grew up with. Every news night, I'd park myself for a half hour to watch the CBS news. It would begin with "Good Evening America, I'm Walter Cronkite" and then launch into the news of the day. He had his highs and lows. Ugly and good moments. He was easy to lipread a bit because in those days, they had the cameras right on the face of the anchorman reading the news. That was Walter Cronkite. He had it made better than what CNN is today. Better in those days, than the idiotic news media that we get today.
What made Walter Cronkite famous was his end of the day's news report. He would aways say:
"and that's the way it is. I'm Walter Cronkite for CBS News, Good Night" as his closing line.
The world changed for most of us when Walter Cronkite did his last show. The Nightly News Shows were no longer the same after that. Life after Walter Cronkite left the news, I'd turn to the newspaper. In the days of Cable TV, we have major 24 hours news station now. CNN being most popular.
Walter Cronkite stayed in our lives with his books and his special TV shows.
Right now, Walter Cronkite is gone from our lives after he has enjoyed riding the crest of history and it's news. I'd say that Cronkite made the best of his life for himself and his family.
The best and greatest thing we could all tell Walter Cronkite this: "Thank you for giving us honesty in news reporting for the way it is. As you sign off from life, We thank you and remember you always Walter Cronkite. Rest in Peace with God's blessing".
Major Salute to Walter Cronkite!

Major Salute to Walter Cronkite!

update: one more article that shows how "Ant that's the way it is" became his tagline sign off.

The TEA Party is GROWING! Funeral in Florida.
G'day Everyone!
A new political party is taking root in America. The TEA PARTY is short for TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY party. Let's face it, taxes are growing higher in the Local, State, and Federal Government costs. It's sad that this new political party had to come into existence in order provide candidates who will become the next checks and balances for our nation's governments.
Link:http://www.teapartyday.com/ For ourselves, it seems to take us back to the days when tea was taxed too high by England and we dumped it into the ocean off the ship. That, if you consider, our first tea party against England and it wouldn't be the last thing either. (Thankfully, the EPA wasn't around then!)
So use the link and Join the TEA party. Our nation has ENOUGH taxes and our governments must get wasteful spending UNDER CONTROL! Even the PORK BARREL stuff must come to an end! Join the TEA PARTY TODAY!
Today is one of the most saddest days in Florida. It is the Florida couple's funeral. http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/07/17/florida.couple.funeral/index.html It is expected to be a huge gathering for this memorial for this couple who adopted many children with special needs.
Who won't be allowed to come to this funeral? It is the 8 suspects that are arrested, jailed, and awaiting their first court dates. These people, who committed this heinous crime against the couple and their kids, should be sent to the super-max prison for the rest of their lives and never to breath free air. The only thing they ought to be given in their jail cells is a King James Bible because they'll face God on their judgement day if they all are given the Death Penalty.
Please pray that God will comfort these kids who lost their wonderful parents.

NASA to TRASH the SPACE STATION?!
G'day Everyone.
You have GOT-TO-BE-KIDDING-ME! I said this because when I was surfing on CNN.com, I came across this article: http://scitech.blogs.cnn.com/ , http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/12/AR2009071201977.html
What it says is this: NASA wants to junk the International Space Station in just 6.5 years from now. Just after it gets completed in 2010 and the space shuttles do their final flights.
My reaction? YOU_HAVE_GOT_TO_BE_DAMN_KIDDING_ME, NASA! When we, as a group of nations, that have spent years to construct the space station, we have prayed, sweat, worked, and grieved for the the number of special men and women who do their job to give us an International Space Station that replaces the Russian MIR (peace) Space Station, and USA's Skylab. When we take part of the world's resources to create a place that helps us to look in the field of technology and space, we have a very unique place. Even when we have used billions of dollars to do it.
Now NASA says in just 6.5 years it won't be worth it any more? Excuse me! The ISS would make a practical place in an emergency when we start launching for the moon again. We need a place for astronauts to go to when there's a problem with the moon rockets. Remember Apollo 13? That was a time men wished that there was an orbiting post that was there for emergencies.
Hello! ISS now provides that place in space.
So if NASA wants to trash the ISS in 2016, then maybe NASA should be disbanded and a NEW SPACE AGENCY can be created that will take responsibility for future space science work. It's a shame that NASA didn't develop new shuttles that would take our nation farther into the 20th century. Going back to the moon should not be the only thing our nation needs.
If we dump the ISS for good, like Skylab (ah the days we wished Skylab would hit a few places for money, but instead Skylab hit the drink), we could never come up with another world-like together project and create something useful to mankind.
I say keep the ISS where it is. We may have a use for it another day in the 21st century. It should stay in orbit as an achievement to mankind and the astronauts of Challenger!

Seek Geo's post, Harry Potter, another CI blog post
G'day Everyone.
When SeekGeo did his post, www.seekgeo.com , about Archie getting married I was kind of shocked. I also grew up reading some of the Archie books. But who will he settle on? Betty or Veronica or someone else? It like a little cliff hanger that tells us the series could come to a conclusion. But who does Archie get married to? Go read the book!
If you plan to go to see the new Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince, I want to plead with parents NOT to take their younger kids to these last 3 movies of Harry Potter. This is the start of the closing end of the Harry Potter films. The next movie will be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that will be in two parts. So parents, please. Think carefully. Wait for the DVD to come out. Besides, there's a LOT of action going on as well as special effects.
And just in the timing, there's another anti-CI post about the new Wisconsin law. Go look at : http://sswblog.com/?p=487
Two major events are happening in my area: The Lycoming County Fair (the 139th) that runs from July 16 - 25th. By the time that's over, the area is just barely going to have a month to prepare for the Little League World Series on August 21-30th. Yes, it means ESPN and airships will be around in my area. Lot of fun.

A 50K settlement?
G'day Everyone!
You gotta be kidding me. $50,000 settlement for being tazered in your own home just as stepping out of the bath tub? This week, you ought to hop, skip, and comment at the important issue that is hitting on deafness.about.com this week.
Here's the link to what Jamie is asking for comments: http://deafness.about.com/b/2009/07/13/should-this-deaf-man-accept-this-settlement.htm
and the story where it's coming out from:
http://www.kwch.com/Global/story.asp?S=10652754&nav=menu486_2_3_2
I've a message for Donnell Williams: GET A LAWYER! Let your lawyer do your talking for you before you think to settle on $50k!
Personally, every time I'm wanting to take a bath or sleep in my own home or apartment, I make sure every door and window is locked before I take off my hearing aid. We all should be afraid of people that try to break into our homes/apartment. It is our worst nightmare. Does $50,000 covers it in Donnell Williams' case? I don't think so.
So this week, I'm running a poll at the bottom of my blog page, near the chick tract. Please vote. You have till July 20th. After that, I will announce the results and share with you and Jamie.
Also, if you want to leave a comment, do it nicely and stay on topic. Thanks!

Caption Action 2, a call to action!
G'day Everyone.
I gave room (meaning, I didn't report on this for some time) for Jamie and Robert in setting up their own blog of Caption Action 2. So far they have done successfully. Even on Facebook as well, they set up a causes in which they got more than 3000 people supporting the cause group. But seriously, we need more supporters and sponsors of this important bill that's going to be decided in congress. Here's the link to Caption Action 2 site: http://captionaction2.blogspot.com/2009/07/why-we-only-have-til-january-2011.html
On administrative note: First of all, I'm sending a stern warning message to a certain person(s) who have been harassing me in my comments area for quite some 2 years now.
To whom it may concern: Stop it! The "message" you sent me long ago has been acknowledged and understood. I'm still not going to change my opinion of the GU protests. THEY ARE FIRM DECISIONS DECIDED LONG AGO. Your Internet Provider and mine are now aware of what's happening between us. Cyber Terrorism laws will come into action and if you want a court battle between us (which you been wanting for sometime now), you will get that wish! You have been warned! BIG BROTHER is watching us!
Second: I want to reconfirm that I'm being strict as ever on approving comments in the Watson reviews area as a moderator. Just remember to thank my harassment/stalker for this decision. This person(s) started it all the strictness that I've had to do.
If you sign up for a blogspot/google account and you use it as a "throw away account" to leave a nasty or boastful comment on my blog or anyone else blog/vlog, you will get prosecuted! I have already complained to blogspot and they take these issues very seriously. Just because you think you can "shoot" from the Internet trees, you are still taking risky legal chances. So I'm asking you, as the person(s) who's been doing all of these problems on my blog, to please stop before you get yourself into legal trouble that will be very hard to get out of. I'm saying this on behalf of many of my blogger friends who are supporting this warning against you. Further more, if you are just one person doing it on behalf of a group and you get arrested, you will take a long nasty fall in which you will never recover in life ever. We have evidence documented since day 1. So think before you do anymore attacks on me or others.
Finally, there is a change on the blog roll list. Jamie Berke has put the Berke Outspoken blog in suspended mode. The link has been replaced with caption action 2.
Added is SeekGeo!'s vlog. SeekGeo is definitely the most fun vlog to watch. At the same time, for those of us that did not win his recent PC drawing giveaway, don't worry. Another one will happen in August 2009.
So please enjoy the weekend. Also did you know today is 7/11? An interesting day it is. If you don't know why, go to the 7-11 store in your town. you'll find something free. (that is if you have a 7-11 store in your town).

Serious CNN news.
G'day Everyone.
There's a lot of news happening out there and some of it is just not too good. What a hell of a way to start the weekend.
First, when you read about some cemetery workers who dug up and dismembered many people in an effort to make more profitable money ought to curl your hair apart. If it's not just this cemetery, it could be any where else in our nation as well! http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/07/10/illinois.cemetery/index.html
Does it make you re-think your burial plans? HELL YES! It ought to raise new concerns for the safety of cemetery groundskeepers who do this hallowed job of taking care of the deceased people.
If you want to be more scared about your home security, here's one that made the news today:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/07/10/Florida.couple.killed/index.html If that doesn't convince you to get home security, it should. Home invasions are happening more often these days!
If President Obama wasn't considering another Stimulus check to be given out to the nation, then attention was diverted Friday to AIG. It was being said that AIG is thinking of giving away more money to their employees again: http://money.cnn.com/2009/07/10/news/companies/aig_bonuses/index.htm?postversion=2009071009 Should the government take over AIG? I think it very well may have to if people start considering that AIG has become a liability issue in the public relations over the bonuses. WOW!
and one more article you ought to consider in our nation's economic problems. Yes it's illegal people in the news. They're making things worse in the nation. Read it for yourself and consider the impact it will have on the rest of the country:
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-illegal10-2009jul10,0,3398621.story
California isn't alone in the state budget mess. So are many other states as well.
If things were not bad at this time of our nation, we should be enjoying a great summer.

Scammer on Facebook, Seek Geo's drawing, Gallaudet Athletics web
G'day Everyone!
Sometime ago, Robert Goodwin (http://rsgeo007.blogspot.com/ ) and I have personally blown the whistle on scammers that have been invading many of our personal emails among many people in the Deaf community.
Today, I want to bring attention again to my Deaf readers of an alert that they need to know on social networking sites. User by the screen name: Deaf Lotto, has been scamming people again. This person keeps hitting the social network sites. This is the second time he's done it. His goal: To steal your name, personal info, and passwords. You didn't win anything in any lotto drawing. He's trying to win your identification and then like a Bernie Madoff, steal every bit of money in your name and then you'd be left with a financial life in shambles. This is bad! But when will this guy ever get arrested and prosecuted? He can't keep this up forever. His luck has to run out some day.
On a note about Bernie Madoff: it was recently reported in the CNN.com news that his lawyer said that Bernie is not going to appeal the judge's 150 prison sentence. It seems like Bernie knows some thing's coming and he's being happy to get into a prison cell die in it. I hope Bernie's long prison time is long before he dies. But he better not drop the bar of soap in the shower!
While I've been telling you about Deaf Lotto and Bernie Madoff: Did you know that SeekGeo(!) has PC drawing today? Oh what? You are SHOCKED? Then why are you reading here? Go to www.seekgeo.com and then come back here for the rest of today's post. Oh, by the way: If you are not the lucky winner today, don't get angry. But stay patience. SeekGeo(!) said that there will be a 2nd PC drawing in August. Going to be an interesting day!
Meanwhile, I've been sitting on news that has finally happened. The Gallaudet Athletics Department has finally redesigned their web site and LAUNCHED it today! Go look! Link: http://www.gallaudetathletics.com/landing/index
You will find it much more easy to navigate and look for information. No more going to www.Gallaudet.edu and having to hunt for the sports information. Neat, isn't ? Enjoy it Bison fans!
Finally, speaking of Sports, my home town is starting to get prepared for August 2009 Little League World Series. Many places are starting to be prepared for invasion of the world of kids that will come to battle for the Little League World Series title. It's going to be interesting to see who wins this year. My bet would be a team from our hometown (big dream).
As it's Friday, I hope you will enjoy a safe and quiet weekend (compared to last weekend). Take it easy.
Till next post: Semper FI.
P.S. What? You still reading this LAST LINE? Are you in the PC give away drawing by SeekGeo(!)? What the heck are you doing here? GO! www.SeekGeo.com RIGHT NOW!

Seek Geo's PC Drawing, sitting on the deck.
G'day Everyone.
I'm sure some of you are seekies out there. That is the loyal fan base of SEEK GEO! I kid you not. This Vlogger is one of the best that I like and he does his vlog very well. Now, a few posts ago, I told you that he was giving away a FREE PC. Even linked you to it.
Well, here's an update on what SEEK GEO! is doing. http://www.seekgeo.com/?p=4246
So be watching this FRIDAY at SEEKGEO.com for the big drawing. HEY! Visit his new SHOP! The Seekies Shop! Link: http://www.cafepress.com/Seekies
Last night, I took my nightly time out and sat on my outdoor deck. I have a favorite chair that I like to sit in and do a lot of my thinking. Mostly I'm thinking and mostly I'm praying. If you were one of the lucky people across the country to see a FULL MOON *HOWL* rise, then you will enjoy the moon for the next 2 days before you have to wait a full month for it again.
My next post is more personal. Please be watching for it.
Thanks and SEMPER FI!

Farewell to MJ!
G'day Everyone!
I don't know how you might react, but many people have been commenting of Michael Jackson's death in the last several days. Yesterday, I was watching the news and a New York State Congressman blasted the media saying that we shouldn't be giving all this attention on Michael Jackson because the numerous "crimes" Jackson committed. I looked at him and said "If this poor guy wants to be re-elected this fall, he'd better apologize to his voters for what he said because he might get booted from the office for his anti-Michael Jackson stance. But if this guy hopes to influence God on the final judgement of Michael Jackson, he might had better luck if he had just sat in church and done just that.
Watching this funeral on TV is more close to the status of a U.S. Presidential funeral! It is HUGE! Very somber as well.
Rest in Peace, MJ. You deserve it.

Why are the famous dying?
G'day Everyone!
Billy Mayes, Ed MacMahon, Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett. They're all linked in Natural death. Including the most recent death (non-star but famous person) of Robert McNamara.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/06/robert.mcnamara.obit/index.html?iref=mpstoryview During the days, I'd hear a lot of people bitch about him. Some have bitched till 15 years after the war ended. Many people will be glad that John Kennedy's final administration personnel is now gone.
However, the most troublesome death of a star, Steve McNair, hit the news a few days ago.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/07/05/mcnair.shooting/index.html
If it turns out to be a murder-suicide later, it's going to be tough to bear. It will seem like this woman wanted a man she couldn't have and rather wants to make sure nobody can have him in death for herself. But in death, people get parted for hell. Not in heaven. It hurts to hear a young man like Steve McNair dying in a rough way. God have mercy on him.
So as the work week begins, tomorrow will be the focus Michael Jackson's funeral.
Have a wonderful day.

USA "fires" against North Korea! MJ's Funeral.
G'day Everyone!
Yesterday was the high point of the year. Especially in the light of the missiles that are flying out of North Korea in a vain attempt to provoke and dare the world to attack it. USA made a statement yesterday: We celebrated our FREEDOM, our INDEPENDENCE, our LIBERTY, and fired our ROCKETS at North Korea. The only problem is, our rockets don't reach North Korea because they are FIREWORKS that explode in a shower of light and beauty!
That was our statement to North Korea: You don't scare us! We will defend our nation if YOU (North Korea) dares to attack us! That was our message to North Korea. We are not afraid.
We celebrated July 4th with parades, music, BBQs, and apple pie. In many places, we had nice weather. Some places needed rain.
If North Korea looks at themselves and see that they are so isolated and bankrupted, no nation is going to defy the rest of the world by helping North Korea. It has nothing to gain for being a bad nation for which they are. Even if they look at the world reactions to their missile "tests", they will see for themselves that they are being IGNORED.
But if North Korea is planning of further missile "tests", failure to put fear in many nations and losing respect is at the top of their list.
This week is going to be a sad one as Michael Jackson's Funeral will happen. If you could be one of the many ticket holders and then grabbing a plane and a hotel to fly out there, you had better be a rich person.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/07/04/jackson.wrap/index.html For anyone being a Michael Jackson fanatic, this will be the high point of their lives to attend a funeral of this size. It's going to be huge. It's most likely to be shown on TV as well. Stay tuned to see how things get set up on CNN.com.
Enjoy the week!

Palin is DONE!
G'day Everyone!
Breaking news is happening on this Independence day weekend. If Palin is stepping down ahead of North Korea's Missile strike that's coming later, then she's doing just to cover her head and getting the heck out of Alaska! It's no wonder she's decided to get away from Alaska in the event we may have a bigger war on our hands.
Link: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/03/palin/index.html
Personally to say, Gov. Sarah Palin should NOT have been former Presidential Candidate John McCain for any reason. She wasn't able to bring the voters to John McCain, but she caused more political damage for the Republican party than anyone else in political history.
Seriously, she needs to step back and take stock of her life, her family, and history of her career. Where she'll find a job to be employed again, it's any one's guess. If there's one thing she certainly needs, it's a long vacation because she's got a lot of head clearing to do.
Some of my friends in Alaska are cheering and dancing. Some are proposing "FREEDOM of Palin State day!". I don't blame them. They've suffered pretty much in this state of Economics.
What will happen politically in Alaska? Well, let's hope the next-to-be Governor Sean Parnell will do some of the most important things, like cleaning up the mess that Palin has made and ordering the tear down of the infamous bridge to NOWHERE. Lt. Governor Parnell has a lot of work to do and I wish him the best of luck to do the job and keep his nose out of bad politics. One small advice for him: If some political presidential candidate for 2012 comes to ask him to run for Vice President, I suggest that he says NO to that and opts to run for Congress in 2012! If Sarah Palin had done that to John McCain, she's still be Governor!
So bid a hearty welcome in Alaska to next-to-be Governor Parnell and a hearty farewell (and may the door slap her butt on the way out) to ex-Governor Palin!

July 4th weekend 2009!
G'day Everyone!
To my readers:
Today starts a weekend of Celebration for our Nation's 233rd Birthday! Despite the economic conditions and the state of alert we are in, we should be thankful that we have been a strong nation.
So whatever you do this weekend, take a bit of caution and prayer.
Here's what is to pray about if you go to this weekend:
1. Pray for our men and women in the military. These people are working around the clock 24/7/365 days to keep our nation safe. Especially when they are watching how the wars are happening in the world and our people are in it. Pray that they will remain on alert this entire weekend and meet any threat that happens.
2. Pray that North Korea's missile will blow up before it gets off the ground. If God does that, we'll have something worth to celebrate this weekend!
3. Pray for safety of many people this weekend. We're all going to be cooking, camping, and stupidly playing with fireworks. Just remember: Safety comes first!
4. If you are driving this weekend to anywhere in your car, three things to be reminded of :
A: Don't talk on the cell phone at all when driving.
B: Don't send any text messages when driving.
C: Don't think about drinking and driving! (if you do drink at a bar, you better have someone to be the designated driver to bring you home. Better yet, take a taxi home and pick up your car later!)
The police will be setting up DUI patrols and will be watching the roads. Even with the camera too for the lead foot speeders! So if you do not want a ticket or getting arrested this weekend, do yourself a favor: Either stay home or take the local bus, or plane, or train!
Holiday weekends is when the major accidents happen and if you have an accident, you can kiss your car insurance good-bye! So please, Drive safe, Drive smart!
Finally, please enjoy this weekend with your family and friends. This is a time we should all enjoy, but keep a watchful eye on the news as well.
So, Major Salute to our Nation's 233rd year. Let freedom ring true!

Snap!VRS comments on the FCC.
G'day Everyone!
Yesterday I was doing this post:
http://thedeafsherlock.blogspot.com/2009/07/vrsca-alert-action-requiredurgent.html
and today, scot who is a user on blogspot, sent me this link about SNAP!VRS comments:
http://www.snapvrs.com/about_us/press/article/?id=25
So I decided to bring it out of the comments area and post it here so that you'd see what's happening out there.
Meanwhile, the world is watching on North Korea. They are still "testing" missiles and they hope some nation is going to shoot it down so that they'd get their war. But with the holiday weekend starting tomorrow, people will be concerned and watchful of the events going on around the nation.
So with the holiday weekend here, I hope you will enjoy the weekend. Take it easy in the heat. Watch the storms. May you have an enjoyable time with Family and Friends.

VRSCA ALERT! *ACTION REQUIRED*URGENT*!
G'day Everyone!
A friend of mine, Nick Vera (salute), sent me an email earlier and I just read it. Then went to the web page of the link he sent me:
http://www.vrsca.org/latest_news/6-04-09/
So if you own a Videophone and you use video relay services, you better look at the link and then, look at what the Federal Communication Commissions intend to do against the VRS (that's the Video Relay Services). Look at the web page, RIGHT NOW! Then ACT! We have until July 6th, MONDAY! Get email and snail mail going. Let the FCC know VRS is important to the Deaf Community! ACT NOW!
Semper FI!
Update: Caveat Emptor: just be aware that I checked with the web pages of the providers that have said NOTHING about the above issue. Even NAD.org as well. If you want to send something to FCC on this issue, go right ahead. Just be aware that our VRS providers are not saying anything in their defense for us. Thanks for the suggestion, J.B.

Remembering my Fairport Home.
G'day Everyone!
I remember some of my growing up days of my life when my family lived in Fairport, NY. Fairport, NY was just a small village in a growing community. But it had an air of a country setting and the feeling of farming not so far away. The New York State Canal runs through the town and often provides an excellent fishing spots. I have literally rode my bicycle all over town and know the area if I was asked a question of what was where. That was a long time ago now.
But when it comes to July 4th, people tend to get jealous. My home sat at the 2nd HIGHEST point in Monroe County area. (Unless I'm wrong already) But when you live on the hill, you had a wonderful view of the whole Rochester area. Long before the trees have over taken the view, I would get the paper and know precisely when the fireworks would happen in the area.
I would set up my chair or I would sit on the ground and my two dogs would sit right next to me. With a clip board, binoculars, drink, and my wristwatch I would check off each town as the fire works started. It would be like about two hours before the last *BANG* resounded in the echo and I would *cheer* that another productive season of fireworks has gone excellent.
Some people come to the top of the hill and beg to be let into the yard to watch. But my dogs provide an excellent security. My father would say no. Even to those that begged him with *money*. But I would invite my close friends who enjoyed the times to see the fireworks go off. My dogs trusted my friends more than they'd trust a stranger.
The last time I saw my old home, the trees have grown up and taken the view with them. The village of Fairport is now a town of Fairport. It's no longer a farming community in the country which is now pretty much a suburban community. But still my old home still commends some wonderful views. If I moved back to Rochester, I would very much want to buy my old home I grew up in and enjoy the view again. Who knows?
But the person that owns the house right now, ought to feel fortunate for what he has with his family. Only one thing, while it's nice up there in the summer, it gets a bit damn colder in the winter! :-) Such is life.
So, today I want to celebrate and wish a Happy Birthday to Nicky B. and James B. Major SALUTE to both of you!
Finally, stay tuned to CNN for the Funeral Service of Michael Jackson on Friday. This is going to be a BIG one!
