G'day everyone!
ALERT.. MAJOR ALERT.. MAJOR ALERT!!
Every NTID ALUMNI SHOULD BE READING THIS POST TODAY!! Because it concerns you very much!!!
I got this alert from a friend of mine in E-mail recently.
First.. read this quickly before Democrat and Chronicle move it again:
http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20080831/NEWS01/808310356/1002/NEWS
Now for those who don't want to read it.. here's the synopsis of it:
A Computer Laptop was STOLEN from an NTID campus office LAST MONDAY, August 25th.
The campus community wasn't notified until YESTERDAY, Saturday, August 30th!
The computer laptop contains: the names, birth dates, and SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS of applicants dating far back as (get this) 1968!!
Folks.. that's 40 years. How many people do you think that is? 12,700 people! You know? This incident is too serious. I want to publicly BLAST NTID/RIT for NOT acting sooner! Waiting till this weekend? Sending out letters to people? E-mails?
EXCUSE ME!! We're talking about ID theft here!! How can NTID/RIT wait until a story has to break in the DandC newspapers and then the story gets right out into the community?
Well I'm not happy. As an ALUMNI OF NTID, I'm NOT HAPPY. I'm pissed.
1. I expect RIT personnel dept to PUNISH (I prefer FIRE) the employee who's laptop got stolen.
2. I demand that the person or persons, who were responsible for communication to the NTID community and ALUMNI community, be reprimanded for not notifying the community sooner!
3. I demand that NTID/RIT offer Security locks for the laptops to Faculty, Staff, Employees, and STUDENTS for free and demand that they lock their laptops completely to their desks!! In addition, their doors in the dorm rooms and office rooms should be closed at all times from now on.
We are living in a changed world. Security should be our main priority. What has happened at NTID should be a message as well to the Gallaudet and the deaf community as a whole: If you own a laptop, invest in a laptop lock and lock your laptop to your desk at all times. Even when you are home! Keep your office and dorm room doors CLOSED! We got strobe lights in these places.. USE THEM!!
Some of you may ask: what about for computer towers? Yes, there are locks too for computer towers. Ask your computer dealers.
NTID alumni should contact the hot line — (866) 624-8330, which can be called through a relay service — will be available from Tuesday (September 2nd) through Sept. 26. The hot line will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
More over, further information including Qs and As (questions and answers) can be found at this web page: http://www.rit.edu/news/?v=46283
My advice to the NTID alumni community: Call the credit bureau company first thing Tuesday and place a FRAUD alert on your credit file and ask for a credit report review asap.
This is NOT a fun thing to do. Especially when NTID has just already celebrated 40 years and we've just kicked the Alexander Graham Bell's name off Tower C this year. Augh.
Salute to Brian for his alert to me.

Another Police Vs Deaf Incident!
G'day Everyone!
I was shifting through DeafRead and found Jim's Deep Thoughts blog http://jimspoliticalthoughts.blogspot.com/2008/08/henrietta-deaf-man-goes-to-court-to.html
But the article you really need to read is: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20080828/NEWS01/808280347/1002/rss01
I can't promise how long the Democrat and Chronicle will keep that article up on-line for. BUT, it's a MUST READ.
Lately, blogger Jeff Carlson (www.xanga.com/jeffcarlson *warning you must be registered with Xanga.com in order to view his site) has told about his experiences with his ex-roommate, police dept, and the hope that he can take his fight all the way to court trial. (hope it works out for you, Jeff).
Ridor has pointed out several types of incidents involving the police vs deaf in his own blog.
But I'm not going to rant like ridor that all police are bad. Yes, there are a few bad apples.
I have a greater concern. The Rochester Police dept could learn a thing or a two from the Washington, DC Metro Police Department. Especially on Sign Language.
Since the days of ADA law, how many police departments have actually learned of Sign Language. How about from Emergency Services workers? Guess what? They're too busy to learn while fighting crime and trying to learn Spanish because of waves of illegal immigrants that are trying to make a new life illegally in our nation. (I've another rant on that later).
Presently, the Rochester Recreation Club for the Deaf (RRCD) has posted on their web page of this: http://rdaw.rochesterdeafclub.com./ From September 21-27, 2008. To my readers in Rochester, NY.. if you want to make a difference with the police, a forum dealing with police/deaf community relationships is planned for 6 p.m. Sept. 25 at the club, 1564 Lyell Ave.
So hopefully, our own Alan Hurwitz of NTID will attend to this event as well. Clearly, the police need to understand the deaf community along with the rest of the disabled community better. If not, mistrust will always remain. In the age of possible terrorism or natural disaster emergencies, police need to be able to work with the deaf community, no matter what.
With that being said, I am in hopes the Rochester Police will learn a few things for themselves to work with the deaf community. Communication is important. But trust between the deaf and the police will always be fragile.

Labor Day weekend.
G'day Everyone.
I kind of struggled over the last few days. Done the job searching, watching facebook, and especially listening to the endless Democratic speeches at their convention on CNN. Sadly to say, they (the DNC) should have done the complete roll call vote and I would think down in my thoughts that Hillary Clinton does have the nomination OVER Obama. Otherwise, why would she be so dramatic and short-cut the roll call vote and call for the affirmation of acclimation? We may never know her personal reasons for giving up her chances for being President of the United States just in the name of "party unity".
Now there was one thing that really impressed me on the last night of the DNC. It was when Former Vice President Al Gore spoke. Clearly shows me that he's gotten over his depression when he tried to run for President of the USA. Only if he had distanced himself from Bill Clinton sooner, We could have enjoyed 8 years of President Gore. Ah, well, Gore was fantastic. That was the DEMOCRATIC man we needed.
Now two things I want to say: ON ELECTION DAY IN NOVEMBER 2008
WRITE-IN: AL GORE in the Presidential SLOT!
WRITE-IN: Hillary Clinton in the Vice-Presidential SLOT!
That's who should be our change of leadership in the nation!
Meanwhile, for the weekend, we almost get it politically free. It may be quiet in some places, but yes, the far south is bracing for a hurricane strike from Gustav. That is a big concern. Tropical storm Fay just blew by my state. Thanks for the rain, Fay!
My thoughts are on the football field already. Today PSU is playing their first game. Hope for a good win.
Gallaudet University Bisons are in a scrimmage (interasquad) today (if it's not raining bad). They take their first field game Next Saturday at home vs. Hiram College at HIGH NOON(12:00pm).
So, come out and CHEER for the BISONS to WIN!! GO BISON!
till later, Semper FI.

Cell phones and texing ban.. now..this?
G'day Everyone!
Heads up. I had a alert from a friend of mine that told me of what's coming down the road. If the local laws are getting more serious, then common sense is already going out the window.
Here's what RSG007 wrote today: http://rsgeo007.blogspot.com/2008/08/textwalking-textdriving-textwhatever.html
and the article he refers to: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/24/AR2008082402275.html
Well, we have Cell phone ban while driving (yet, if I could take a number of pictures of these offenders, I'd send them right to the police for some MONEY!!).
Then we got Texting while driving ban happening.
Now, they're saying a ban on texting while WALKING? EEP!!
Which reminds me of the Tom Neville's Deaf Pager Lawsuits:
http://www.aslexpo.com/video/deaflawyer.wmv
*sigh* I wanted to laugh, but in all seriousness, if you read how the Washington Post article goes, there have been some incidents where people have been known to walk right into traffic while reading their cell phone/ pager texts. Yes, there have been a few times I have literally grabbed a friend of mine right back from the edge of death on the street corners in DC. It wasn't fun having to do that, Especially of taking away his pager and shoving it into my back pocket (which I later sat down on it.. OOPS!! My bad.. sorry bro!).
With new bans related to texting, it's like saying "Hey! Act responsible with that pager!! SIT DOWN WITH THAT PAGER IF YOU ARE GOING TO COMMUNICATE ON THAT". Some argue: If there's a ban on walking with a pager, shouldn't there be a ban on walking with a cell phone in your ear? *sigh*
So much for reaching out and keeping touch with people (as Ma Bell used to say) in this age of technology. What's next? Will laws be passed that CIs become adapted to having Cell Phone technology implanted in everyone else? Perish the very thought of it!! That's so scary to see happen. Though the possibility could happen in the very future!!
As I send this post out, I warn my readers, Please: Don't text while driving. Please don't walk while texting. God forbid should you get into a personal and mortal accident that will change your life.
Till next time...

Surf's up! Obama VP.
G'day Everyone!
SURF's UP! And it was just that all week at the Little League World Series from the Day one to the final day, CHAMPIONSHIP day for HAWAII! Those kids know how to practically hang ten on their bats to win the game.
2nd place went to Mexico. (I later got told by someone that they were happy that the illegal immigrants were shown the way back home. Well, just hope these kids don't become future illegal immigrants, buddy!).
Japan chopped their way to 3rd place in the consolation game over Louisiana (which is still suffering the curse of Tropical Storm Fay).
Well, the airport and bus terminals were busy Monday as the teams began the long trek home.
I got told that my hometown was happy that President Bush decided NOT to make his presence known, but we had a *STAR* in town. Jared Fogel, the subway spokesman from all the advertisements, came in to watch the game. But he couldn't stay long as he got completely mobbed by people. Ahh, such is the PRICE of fame.
The Little League Stadium is now being prepped to shut down for another quiet long year of waiting for the next 16 teams to make their bats sing. So, play well guys! See you NEXT YEAR!
Well, the Senator from Scranton, PA (my old stomping grounds), Senator Joe Biden was formally picked to be the Vice President for Obama. I wasn't surprised, but it was quite a LOGICAL pick. But Senator Hillary isn't ready to call it the end of her career. I would be surprised if she demands that her name to be put on the ballot, no matter what and letting the people CHOOSE the VP for her.
But what about John McCain? Well, He may pick someone soon and upstage the Democratic National Convention (DNC). With the DNC going on in Denver, Colorado, it won't be long before the Republican National Convention (RNC) will be taking place in St. Paul, Minnesota. Did you know that the Republican fast tracked $MONEY$ for last year's I-35 bridge repairs after the disaster happened? I was like, *WHOA*. But seriously to say, our nation's infrastructures are questionable in many places. Like, when was the last time you drove over a major bridge, and you prayerfully hope that you get across it before it falls down? It's one of the biggest nightmares for almost every driver (even me) when driving over a bridge. If it's not the height of the bridge you fear, then it's possibility that it could fall down while you drive over it. I-35 bridge in the St. Paul, MN proved to be that type of a night mare to happen last year. Money was *RUSHED* to rebuild the bridge in time for the RNC.
By the time the next two weeks are past, we'll be running into the home stretch of this political season. who will be *ELECTED* to the mess that Bush has made since 9/11? Will this person restore air travel freedom? Will he pull down all the *security cameras* that are nearly in every major town and city? Will he put America *Back to the way it was* before 9/11? I know we can't bring back our very lives before 9/11. However, our military people must come home. Iraq is no longer our fight. We've chased Osama Bin Laden for so long, he might be dead already and we'd never find him. Victory for Bush? NOT!
So enjoy what's left of August. The leaves are ready to turn and so are we.

Olympics and LLWS ends today!
G'day Everyone.
Well, the finale week has to be here for most people. School starts this week in my area. All the kids are out playing on their last day before they have to get up early am and heading back to classes and whine "I HATE SCHOOL" stuff.
Gallaudet is about to be in FULL SWING already. May it be a good school year for everyone.
The Olympics is coming to an end in China. The International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s embarrassment is coming to an end and hopefully, will never repeat such a decision again like this. But the Olympics should have promoted peace. It didn't. Russia invaded the nation of Georgia yet, they have "withdrawn" in a way. This type of invasion should not have happened. I read on a few posts in other sites that have taken up the call for an END to the OLYMPICS. I don't blame them. Yet, in 4 years, there will be the Olympics in MERRY OLDE ENGLAND. Now that's something that's going to be jolly good. At least the British will put on a better show than China has done.
Meanwhile, in the Little League World Series (LLWS): yesterday, there was a FIGHT for the final two spots. The winners are: Mexico punched Japan 5-4. Hawaii made good use of the tropical storm Fay curse on Louisiana and win 7-5.
Today's LLWS title fight: Mexico vs Hawaii. I hope that Hawaii will win today and SURF IT UP!
The action begins at 3:30pm on ESPN and ABC SPORTS and taking place in the Lamade Stadium.
In the consolation game the wet and soggy Louisiana will face the battered Japan for the 3rd place win. It will be at HIGH NOON in the Volunteer Stadium and on ESPN. (by the time you read this.. run to your TV to watch)
You ask: Will the Sherlock be there? Unfortunately, no. I'm not interested and I'm going to be heading up to Sullivan county Fair as it's the last day there and go for a swim in the World's end Park river with a friend. However, I'm tired of hearing the blasted GoodYear Blimp that has been a drone in the area. You can piratically hear the engines so loud, you'd wish it was going else where (which it won't be flying out of the area until Monday morning to Akron, Ohio.)!!
So whatever you do on your last Summer day of vacation before school starts, please enjoy your day. After all, it's a Fun day.

6 year old wants to be DEAF PRESIDENT!
G'day Everyone!
It gets cute every year. Every 6 year old kid DREAMS really big. Wanting to be a PRESIDENT!
Try this one:
http://www.buffalonews.com/cityregion/story/420570.html
This is a deaf 6 year old Declan Hurley of Clarence NY, serving notice that he wants to be the first DEAF PRESIDENT.
My reaction: Laugh LONG and HARD! Kids, they're safe from the world's pressing problems and enjoying their childhood dreams. They have NO idea of just how *HARD* it is to become a PRESIDENT.
I do know two friends who are working HARD in political circles to become something politically important. They have a LONG way to make their mark in policital circles. One of them has this politcal related blog: http://www.xanga.com/micahbrwn . It's a worth to see on his site.
So if Declan Hurley's parents will steer him in the right direction in life to become just that, a president, then he will be just that.
But then again, as an Alumni of Gallaudet University and NTID, Declan Hurley is my FIRST choice when he grows up and gets all certifications that he needs to become NTID or Gallaudet University's NEXT DEAF PRESIDENT NOW. A lot can happen in his life in the next 30-40 years. By the time he grows up, most of us will be gone and he'll be facing a new generation of deaf people. So I wish him good fortune. He had better hope that who ever the next president is going to be in the coming fall general Presidential elections doesn't end up destroying the Nation first.
Meanwhile, As Micah Brown said in his blog: Obama has chosen his VP. Obama is keeping a secret and hopefully to MILK the media moments up till the convention time. Unfortunately, it's his big gamble because fighting against John McCain. My bet is that McCain will find out who Obama's VP is and eventually spilling the beans. If that happens, then we got a good political fight coming our way this fall.
Semper FI to : Declan Hurley. May his presidential prepping years go smooth for himself.

and then there will be 4
G'day Everyone.
The Olympics will soon wrap up and end for another 4 long year wait for the next Summer games (2012 is the next one, in London). Yet, there are some people in life that are pushing for an end to the Olympics as it has not accomplished any type of peace or friendship among the nations in the World. Even during the games Russia attacked the nation of Georgia. To this day, Russia is still in Georgia. Is this a sign of "friendship" among nations during the Olympic games? I don't think so.
Meanwhile, in my home town, the Little League World Series is about to wrap up soon. The field of 16 was trimmed to the final 8. Yesterday, It got trimmed down a bit as Japan beat Curacao by a score of 11-4 and Hawaii beat Washington 9-4.
(Side note: there were some people in Hawaii recently that occupied the former Palace and demanded an Hawaii Island be reinstated. Did you know that Hawaii is just another country that was taken over by USA? I was surprised that it was! It was never a "discovered" nation. It was "annexed" to be part of the USA. I'll get into another rant later).
Today: there are 4 more teams that battle out for the last 2 spots of the final 4.
Interesting to note: Venezuela is playing against Mexico tonight at 4 pm in the Lamade Stadium (ESPN broadcast). Venezuela is President: Hugo Chavez, that I have NO DOUBT, that he's hope that his Little League team will win this year. So if they polish off Mexico, that'll make things interesting. Whoever wins will face team Japan at 12:30pm on Saturday.
Tonight's thriller is Florida ( some have been seen wearing "I escaped Tropical Storm Fay at the LLWS" shirts) vs Louisiana . Game starts at 8pm. Whoever wins will face Hawaii at 3:30pm on Saturday.
The final 4 will battle Saturday for the last two spots in Sunday's Championship game 3:30pm. After the final out is recorded on Sunday, it will be at least 2 days before all the teams go home and the town relaxes again for another year.
While you are watching the ESPN from the famous Goodyear Blimp, which has been roaming the air around town all week, you'll all see the sights of my home town.
So give a big hand and SALUTE to these kids who come to play "sandlot" baseball in my back yard this year! Basically, my best bet that I hope that will be in the final two spots will be FLORIDA VS Venezuela. Otherwise, a Japan vs Florida would not be a bad battle too.
Whatever happens, enjoy your weekend!
Semper FI to Little League World Series!
Update: Mexico beat Venezuela 5-2. Mexico joins against Japan 12:30pm Saturday.
Florida got wiped out by Louisiana 6-1. Yes, it's been said that Florida has blamed it on tropical storm Fay. Louisiana faces Hawaii at 3:30pm Saturday. It's been said to me that a Florida player hopes that Tropical Storm Fay will pay a visit to Louisiana in form of a Hurricane by tomorrow afternoon.
Revise for the final two spots hope: Japan vs Hawaii. That's my hope.

Sitting on my porch today/ www.suicide.com
G'day Everyone!
Some of you are just back in classes again as school starts up in Elementary, High School, and colleges/Universities. I know it's tough with Summer still hanging around. Summer isn't officially over Labor day weekend is past. That isn't too far away. So take some time to sit out on your porch and watch the trees turn into wonderful fall colors.

Summer's coming end.
G'day Everyone!
Well, as the Little League teams are slugging it out in South Williamsport area, Summer time is just starting it's swan song of farewell. In some cases, we've gotten past the dog days and now the cool nights are upon us.
But for the college students, it means classes will begin or have begun in some places. It's the same for elementary schools.
College football teams of Divisions : D1, D2, and D3 are already gearing up for games. Most of these players have been in the training campus long since the end of July 2008. They're going through the drills, getting in shape, and holding scrimmages. For some, the Bowl Championship Series will remain controversial as ever.
Penn State University's Football Head Coach: Joe Paterno, PA Joe to most of us, is in his LAST SEASON. It will be interesting to see if PSU survives the season and gets into the Championship game. If they do, most people are hope that PA Joe will retire on that note and let a new younger head coach come in and take over the Nittany Lions squad in 2009.
On a final note: Gallaudet's University's own BISON football team has kicked off their season:
http://www.gallaudetathletics.com/sports/generalnews/2008-09/20080813footballbbq
It will be good to hope if the bisons have a winning season this year since Hotchkiss field was unexpectedly renovated and new nightlights have been installed. Get ready for their first game on Sept 6th at HIGH NOON! First night game, Nov 7. So come out and pound on the stands as the Bisons take on the new field!
One thing I'd like to see one day: Gallaudet University Bisons play against Bucknell University Bisons (Lewisburg, PA) That would be a battle of the Bisons for sure! :-) That's my dream wish!
So enjoy whatever summer's left. Won't be long before the leaves turn and fall's here!

Do you want a body with that?
G'day Everyone!
The infamous video, which is now making it's way across the blogs and major news, is out there.
http://www.wdtn.com/global/story.asp?s=8825514. This happened at a Burger King in Xenia, Ohio. Get this.. the said employee was taking a BATH in A SINK AT BURGER KING!!
None the less, it's a Public Relations disaster for Burger King. How would you feel at this point?
Do you want a body in your burger? Believe me, I don't think so!
Fortunately, Burger King did fire all the employees involved in this and said that they threw out all the affected tools. But the sink? I would recommend that said Burger King Restaurant to please RIP OUT that sink and replace with a new one!! Just to say a sanitation is enough.. but no. Rip out the sink!! Don't eat there until they do just that!
Meanwhile, BK fans in Xenia, Ohio, I encourage you to go to McDonalds for a while until Burger King cleans it's entire kitchen properly and that the health department certifications it CLEAN down to the last microorganism!!
I hope they throw a full lawsuit at the fired employees too!

The "olympics" in my town!
G'day Everyone!
Well, it had to happen. Williamsport, PA has been cleaning up lately. Police cracking down on local crime, neighbors clean up their lawns, patriotic flags coming out, ESPN setting up shop, and all the players arriving into Williamsport on the planes that are packed full yet only a few flights while others have to be bused in.
Here it is! Little League World Series. The once a year games when kids from all over the world take over the town for a week and a half. We used to call it "The yearly baseball Olympics". Little League didn't go all out in flashing it's self like China. But the baseball games are dedicated to kids and their teams. This is their time of their life to play for a title. They worked hard to get here. No drugs are involved. But they have courage, faith, intelligence, and sense of fair play.
From August 15- August 24, it becomes more like a sandlot baseball game being played every day. For the kids, this is their ultimate summer vacation of a lifetime for them in their young lives.
May the dream of hitting that winning home run come true for them. The Olympics in China may go on and be controversial, but not in my back yard here. We're going to bask in this "Olympics" through Little League World Series and let the kids play it honestly!

Loss of Faith.
G'day Everyone.
What's faith? Faith is believing in something that you can't see. Faith is a type of trust you have with someone. Faith is kind of a religious faith.
All of that is linked to this news article:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/08/07/osteen.wife.trial.ap/index.html
Victoria Osteen is co-pastor at Lakewood Church. It's clear that people hold pastors and co-pastors in a high position of "faith". But what happens when they do something unchristian? It shows they are HUMAN. Prone to mistakes. Prone to be a failure. Just like anyone else outside the ministry.
Now, I'm proud that this flight attendant is doing the right thing. She's taking on and making a point where religious leaders have to be held accountable and responsible for their criminal actions that's done against other people. Even if it's outside the church.
I suffered a loss of faith myself. A long time ago, I believed in a deaf pastor in another state when I was younger. At that time, I believed in life God would want me to become a pastor or evangelist myself, just like my pastor. What happened was my deaf pastor's own criminal actions made a reflection that caused the loss of my faith. Not just myself, but many people as well. After his departure, the deaf ministry suffered and split into the past. Suing him now isn't an option. But, we're disappointed that the hearing church choose not to report to the police of his actions. That becomes their future accountable failure to God for their actions.
Life after a deaf ministry is different for those who have felt the downfall of the deaf pastor. There are some who have gone on into different faiths, different paths, or made a choice of a different way of life. Some, like me, have become "independent" people of faith. That is to say, we've been burned and don't want to return to a church ministry where we could get burned again. (The old saying: 'Once bitten, twice shy').
I'm sure my former deaf pastor would want to apologize to every one of his former ministry for his down fall and try to encourage everyone to hold on to whatever what "faith" we have left. But, his own lawyer would rather shut him up and tell him: "Wait till you die and then apologize on the other side". Often sounds like a good idea, but everyone suffers for it.
What's left of faith? Nothing more than a tiny mustard seed just ready to be ground into the faith of grey poupon. Life goes on. But for now, I'd like to see this victory by this flight attendant. If she wins, Glory to God. If she loses, well, she still wins because God will judge pastors for their example.
UPDATE: A CNN report on TV just said that The jury just found Victora Osteen "NOT GUILTY" of assaulting the flight attendant. I SAY NOT SO FAST! Remember, it is not over until GOD holds court next. I believe one day Victora Osteen will face God and SUFFER judgement. God will declare her GUILTY! So Court on Earth may say one thing.. but with God, it's the last court man and religious leaders will face one day. Tough loss for the flight attendant, but a tougher one coming later for both. Remember this.. GOD GETS THE FINAL UNAPPEALABLE ANSWER!! http://www.click2houston.com/news/17190201/detail.html

Texting and the PERFECT crashing of the car.
G'day Everyone!
Here's something that should serve as a DIRE WARNING to everyone who's still texting while driving your car :
http://www.startribune.com/26266034.html?location_refer=Error
Again, this comes right out of Minneapolis-St.Paul, MN area. Same area where Doug Behal is from and in the process of suing the law enforcement there. (Wish you the best in your quest, Doug! Though $50k is not enough. Should have gone $500K to be serious!).
You know, I've blogged about texting while driving before. I have warned my readers, warned both my hearing and deaf friends about it. But nobody seems to be taking things seriously.
You know, law enforcement has cameras and cops watching just about everywhere. If you think you are safe at a traffic light and you think that camera is just aimed at your license place, think again. It's also aimed at your face. If you are texting while sitting for the light and the cop sees you through that camera's lens, then you just got caught!
Police are getting aggressive on drivers. Even if some of you say "well, they won't be after me because I'm on my cell phone". *siren* PULL OVER! You just got caught for using your cell phone too! As I've told my hearing friends, invest in hands free cell phones.
Some cell phones can understand voice commands and dials for you. On-star is one such of a product in the new cars that have that ability to give you cell phone ability to call people, but not texting.
As I will warn again, please don't text or use that cell phone while driving! Police are watching. But when you are caught, you are basically caught as a "Suspected Drunk Driver" . That's DUI.
The future charge could be worse. DUITM (Driving Under Influence of Text Messaging). Do you want to pay that in form of losing your driver's license? Going to Jail (in some cases PRISON)?
I need not to remind you that cops are aggressive out there. If what happened to Doug Behal can happen anywhere else. Every cop has had their bad days. You don't need to see that too.
So please I beg, urge, suggest, request, and PLEAD to many people out there: PUT DOWN YOUR SIDEKICK and CELL PHONES. FOCUS ON DRIVING! Don't worry about the text messages. They'll be there. Don't worry about the calls, you can always call them back.
Remember, you have only ONE car. ONE License. ONE life.
All it takes is ONE STUPID MOMENT for ONE STUPID MISTAKE that causes ONE SERIOUS AND OFTEN FATAL ACCIDENT. What happens? Your life can be changed in that INSTANT moment. Alive or disabled, that's what you will be. You will have affected everyone around you. Do you want to take that chance? I don't think so. Driving requires your total attention.
So please, turn off the cell phone or side kick and drive. Keep your hands on the wheel. Focus. Arrive alive. Avoid the ticket.
Thank you and Semper FI.

Mary Winkler, Murderer and mother.
G'day Everyone!
What is justice? Why is the judicial system flawed in more ways than you can count the number of laws on the law books? You do crime, you do the time. RIGHT?
Read: http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/08/04/minister.slain.custody.ap/index.html
What shocks me the most that Mary Winkler only spent 12 days in jail while the average prisoner who does manslaughter (should be murder) spends nearly a life time in prison! Get this, for only 2 months she was in a mental health hospital! Does that mean she's "CURED"? I don't think so. She's killed. What makes anyone think she won't kill again? *shudder*
Mary Winkler has killed her husband in a domestic dispute. Now, what makes it clear that she is A KILLER. She took the life of a human being. She had chances to leave and divorce her husband. She could have just walked away. But no.. she killed her husband. Does she have regrets? NO. She never apologized for it.
Even if a jury had found her guilty of LESSER charges through sympathy, it should not have happened. Murder is murder. The life and blood of Matthew Winkler still cries from the grave.
One day, when Mary Winkler tries to stand before God with her kids, trying to put on a sympathy show for the Lord, God will have NO SYMPATHY FOR HER! God will take the kids away and protect them since the law on earth haven't done that already. God will PUNISH Mary Winkler for the MURDER of her husband. I pity those kids that have to live with a mother who's a killer. When they get old enough, I hope they find the God given strength to yell at their "daddy killer mommy" and leave.
No law giving judge in the world should be given the RIGHT TO DECIDE that kids should have to live with a murderous mother. If Mary Winkler kills again, then the law has failed it's purpose.
Say NO to Mary Winkler to keep her kids. Let the grandparents raise these kids. It's a safer idea.
Update: Just found this on CNN.com today 9/19/08: http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/09/19/preacher.slain.ap/index.html
Do I agree with this? no. God shall be the final judge and take away her kids. Once a murderer, always a murderer. She will KILL AGAIN ONE DAY! Because once she has shot a human being, she will try again.
