G'day Everyone.
Economic recession. State budget problems. Tuitions rise. Students attendances falls.
These are what impacts on colleges and universities as they consider cutting their budget expenses.
But the latest hit is happening at the Michigan State University. Link: http://www.statenews.com/index.php/article/2009/12/university_should_rethink_decision_to_cut_deaf_education
I should say that we, the deaf community, should show support for the deaf students that attend MSU and help save the Deaf Education program. God knows that we need more teachers for the deaf out there. At the same time, there's almost not enough teachers out there to go around.
So please, show support for Deaf Education at MSU! I say to MSU: Don't cut Deaf Education!
Semper FI!

There plenty of budget cutting going on in different school area. I have read from my home newspaper
online that they have to cut up to
$ 26 million dollars where I grew up. In one County in Maryland, they
have to cut about 500 employees and increase the classroom size by one extra students. Where I live,
the school has to do cutting including maybe cut forgein Language. It hurts just about every where including at MSU like
you mention. What is the solution?
In my opinion, pay more money in
property tax and get more money
from the State Government. The only problem with paying more property tax is that the house assessment values has gone down and the county can't increase the property taxes. So the local government can't get much money from the people or the state. I hope the economy improves soon so there will no more cutting.
