G'day Everyone.
Lycoming Valley Mall yesterday had a very low key day for Deaf Santa. While it wasn't so actively announced in the news, I was kind of ticked about it. Though, I'm giving some insight to the key people to make it more possible for more of the deaf and disabled community to be involved in this.
Dressing up yesterday was a lot of fun. But the suit was warm and stuffy. I gained a lot of Christmas Spirit in talking with many kids that showed up. Many of the hearing, deaf, and disabled kids showed up.
There were a few unique moments in being Deaf Santa. I had a young disabled man come up to me and hug me 3 times. He was overjoyed to see his Santa. There were two WILD girls that came up and SAT on my lap for a picture. I kind of surprised that happen. But believe me, 3 hours in that chair went by fairly quickly. By the time the beard was choking me, I had to call it over early and by the time I got back to the room, I ripped it off. I was more than glad to do the Santa stuff. To me, it was just another day of a show on the theater stage.
The next show will be on December 18th from 5-8 at the Lycoming Valley Mall.
So, It's been a wonderful experience for me. But will I get to do it more often next year? Maybe, if I get to stay in the area and I land a local job. Who knows what Christmas 2010 will bring?
Till next post, may there be many Christmas blessing and wishes for you all. Ho ho ho!
