G'day Everyone.
Didn't think this was going to happen but LO and BEHOLD: Another Deaf College!
Link: http://www.newswest9.com/Global/story.asp?S=11188155
When you read the link, it's all about the Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf (SWCID). The link to Howard College SWCID: http://www.howardcollege.edu/swcid/
Which means what?! Gallaudet University and The National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) formally have competition! It's no longer Gallaudet vs NTID. It's now a trio of deaf colleges that are in a formal battle for deaf students to attend their campus. Will this be a good thing? YES. I believe Howard College has done the right thing for deaf students on their campus. This gives deaf students in high school more choices of where to attend for further education.
So move over, NTID. Look out Gallaudet. There's a new kid on the block.
Cheeers to SWCID! May there be wonderful years to come.
Thank you to the person who emailed me about it.
Semper FI!

Where have you been? SCWID has been around for decades and deaf administrators have served there. There were others similar such as TVI and more.
SWCID has been there since 1979, and it's a deaf junior college, within a hearing junior college.
Maybe you meant "hey NTID, GU, and CSUN: here are some transfer students from Texas!"
:)
According to the "about" section, they've been around since 1979 and became state-supported in 1981. I'm curious why we haven't heard anything about this school before.
hey Robert Hawkins: mind sharing the list of other Deaf like colleges that you know of? I think we need to be refreshed to know what's out there in the deaf college competition.
Yes SCWID has been around for years. This is not new news. GU + NTID/RIT are still the leaders.
