G'day Everyone!
Well, An end of a era is always heart breaking. Especially when it's Yankee Stadium. For the many THOUSANDS of Fans, visitors, baseball collectors, and sightseers they came to pay their respects to a dying institution. Yankee Stadium is a legend of it's own making. It has withstood the test of time. It's had many famous moments, many famous games, and many famous visitors that came to see it, speak, and leave breathless. Yankee Stadium events also had many infamous moments as well.
Now the city of New York as well as it's baseball team has said Yankee Stadium has out-lived it's purposes and built a NEW STADIUM across the parking lot. *sigh*. But suddenly, the new stadium is now a new controversy in NY because of these ECONOMIC days. Even though it was being built in the better economic days before, the new stadium is now considered a "luxury" stadium. So it's a tough pill to take in these times.
But, for those who visited Yankee Stadium, I'm hope that many of the Boston Red Sox fans gathered up all their "curses" and took them home. Because if they didn't, those that are left behind will get BURIED in the past forever.
At the same time, all of the former mob bosses ought to start sweating. Even the old timers in prison cells as well. If there are any BODIES in the old yankee stadium floors and grounds, it's most likely going to be found. So if those old mob bosses want to escape the justice of the past coming back to bite them in the ass, now's the time to *expire* on schedule. :-) It would be interesting to find a body or a two in Yankee stadium as it gets torn down.
Here's the article on the last game: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/tom_verducci/09/22/yankee.stadium.last.game/index.html
Across the street, the new stadium sits ready to play it's first game. From what one source tells me, they have gone over the entire stadium inch by inch as it was being constructed. They made sure that Red Sox fans and construction workers were prevented from leaving "new curses" anywhere within the newly built stadium. One of the construction workers was arrested for trying to leave a "new curse" in a certain spot. Unfortunately, it was the wrong thing to try to leave a new curse. I can understand the intense Rex Sox/Yankees rivals that they are in.
But, it's time we got past trying to "curse" teams of a bad season and play some honest and drug-free baseball. As the baseball season winds down to the play-off races, so are the dreams of winning the Baseball World Series.
I had many chances in all my life to visit the OLD Yankee Stadium. Since it's closed, that's over. But new yankee stadium? Humm. Maybe.
As the season starts to come to an end for the Yankees, even if they don't make the play-offs, they gave it their best baseball hit season. That's all any fan could ask for. Bittersweet season to the final out is the best of times.
Semper FI old Yankee Stadium. We'll miss it. The Spirit of the old Yankees lives on!

Beside Farewell to the NY Yankees Stadium, the NY Mets is also getting a new Stadium next year. I have also read that the NY Yankees new stadium have had a Boston Red Sox shirt buried and some other Boston Red Sox stuff for a 'curses' to carry on more bad luck into the new Yankees Stadium. I hope the Yankees don't have any problems in their new Stadium.
well, even if the yankees don't win to make the post season play offs. One day, Boston won't make it back into the world series again, even if they make it to the play offs. But what goes around, comes around. There'll be a season that boston doesn't win at all and misses even a post season play off. When that happens, break out the best soda we can have!
