OverKill of Christmas!

I had to post something today (Sunday, November 11Th) of all days. I never thought retailers would start in on CHRISTMAS the moment Halloween was over. But, going shopping at my local mall in my hometown, I was greeted by no less than a CHRISTMAS OVERKILL!

Decorations of Christmas everywhere in almost every store! I was feeling like I'm bombarded with so much THEME of Christmas! It was downright horrible feeling.

Why so early and why now? There's a reason. Last year's Christmas for the retailers didn't do so well. So the retailers have decided to TAKE SOME REVENGE on the consumers to BUY EARLY AND OFTEN! Oh I can understand the need to make profit.

But, it won't work this year. Right now, our dollar is falling. The toy industry is hurting because of so many toys that were imported have been recalled for various reasons. The most recent are the Aqua Dots. Parents are concerned. Toys are almost a retailer's dream of a multi-million dollar profit. But for many other retailers, they're pushing their lines of items as much as they can. But are they American made? No. Just about anything and everything is NOT made in America any more. Thanks to Bush and his NAFTA! In 2008, we need some anti-NAFTA crowd..(yanks the keyboard from the political Steve)...

Sorry. That Anti-NAFTA moment will be a future post in 2008. :-)

Anyhow, back to the point. I feel bad that we have to suffer with retailers trying to hype in Christmas early on consumers.

When I arrived in Montoursville, PA. I expected to see my town looking nice and ready for thanksgiving 2007. Instead, I found Christmas lights and decorations up. I was aghast. I couldn't' believe some neighbors have taken to putting up outside Christmas decorations up early! *sigh*.

Well, Christmas Overkill got complete on Sunday when I went by the portrait shop. Lo and behold! There was a man dressed up as Santa Claus, but looked like Albus Dumbledore!! I was shocked. I couldn't believe it.

Someone once told me this: "If you were to see someone dressed as Santa Claus BEFORE Thanksgiving, then your Christmas season is going to be a bad time. If you see someone AFTER Thanksgiving, Christmas will be a blessed time.".

So, I walked by the poor guy fast as I could. Never looking back after his greeting. Sure I'll take the coal in his stocking, but I consider my season done for.

Thanks retailers for doing a Christmas Overkill. May your profit margins FALL!

I am also anti-NAFTA because of our jobs are being taken over by foregien countries. Companies moving out of the United States for cheaper labor. NAFTA has done more harm than good for the United States in my opinion. The one other thing sad about NAFTA that it was signed by George H. Bush in December 1992. I believe he did it so we can have free trade and work with Canada and Mexico at that time. I wish he had knew the bad things that had come out of it. At first I thought it would be a good idea but now I am wrong. I wish the Congress could stop NAFTA for good so our companies can stop going over seas and take away the American jobs. We need job in Amercia to make the United States strong. I too am shock to see Christmas up before Thanksgiving. That is a sure sign that Christmas is not going to be easier this year that before.

It is nothing new and certainly no different from last year.
