The Return of IKJ, JKF, and KK?

I was shocked to get an e-mail from the protest leaders that they heard of the possiblity that I.King Jordan, Jane K. Fernandes, and Karen Kimmel might return to the campus to teach in the classes.

For myself, that is a concern for the mental state of the campus of having these "professors" returning to the state of the academic field.
I would encourage President Davila to have him sit down with these individuals and tell them that they should NOT consider returning to the campus. I wouldn't even promise their safety in the class rooms.

Second, a petition should be started against I.King Jordan. If he returns to the Gallaudet University to teach in the classrooms, then his very name MUST COME OFF the Student Academic Center (SAC). When Jordan was President, he somehow forced the previous Gallaudet Board of Trustees to violate tradition and have his name put on the SAC building. It is not right. Not right at all. Jordan should have retired and left Gallaudet for good.

For Fernandes and Kimmel? I think their comments in various newspapers and speaking engagements have rendered them unsuitable for Gallaudet University's classrooms.

My hope is that President Davila will take into serious account of the events that could happen if these individuals returned to the class rooms of our fair campus. I urge President Davila to reconsider his actions and prevent them from coming on the campus. Revoke their tenure if possible.

Davila should take action to protect this campus. IKJ, JKF, and KK ought to look for jobs elsewhere. They have no longer work on campus.

on a sadder note: The Clerc Center Dean: Dr. Katherine A. Jankowski, has resigned. She is leaving for health reasons and her vision is departing from her. She will be missed from the campus of Gallaudet, but we should have high hopes that she will remain an influence in the deaf community as well as on the campus of Gallaudet. Dr. Stephen Weiner is acting as Dean of the Clerc Center for the time being. A replacement is in the works.

Semper FI.

The only person I would not want to see return to Gallaudet is IKJ. He was a disgrace for his 19 years of service as the First Deaf President. There should be a petition to have IKJ name removed from SAC building because he does not deserve a building name after him. If I wanted to name anything after IKJ, that would be a Tree because he help start growing a Deaf President at Gallaudet. A building name after him? Well, shame on him and shame on BOT for approving putting his name to SAC building.

MG..
I wasn't mis-informed. They may have tenure on this campus. But the community needs to tell Davila that these 3 individuals are NOT WELCOME on this campus in a form of a petition.

Sure Steve, send the message to the hearing folks and the congress that funds Gally that these deaf trailblazers they enjoyed rubbing elbows with are not welcome back.

OCDAC: Just remember one thing. I.King Jordan may have been a "trailblazer", but there's a lot of things that trouble us of the way he has run the Gallaudet University campus. We still got a lot of questions that need answering.
As for JKF? If she truely wanted to trailblaze her herself into the first deaf woman president, She would have shown us her honor to step down from the provost position to run for the President of Gallaudet Postion, just like Dr. Anderson resigned from the BOTs (he was President of the BOTs). Dr. Anderson was more honorable do it than JKF was. She didn't step out of the Provost job after the announcement happened. In fact, she didn't leave it till AFTER the 2006 Graduation was done. (there's that errie feeling of seeing provost/president-elect and soon to be ex-president on that damn stage in my dream).
It's a matter of consideration for the betterment of the University. Should those 3 return to the place of "near-disaster"? NO.
But how will the campus react if those 3 do step on campus again to teach class? I'll dive into the nearest fox hole first. :-)
