Alert..Alert: Another state bans Texting while Driving

G'day Everyone!

Alert..Alert! For the users of sidekicks, blackberries, and Cell phones that do a lot of texting while driving in California, you are getting a STATE WIDE BAN ON TEXTING WHILE DRIVING!

Oh, you scoff and don't believe me? Here's the Link: http://www.kcra.com/news/17551235/detail.html

But, be happy a little bit... the law doesn't become effective until January 1st, 2009.
How heavy is the penalty? From the article: "Violators caught text messaging while driving will be fined $20 for a first offense and $50 for any violations after that." Translation: it's a light fine, but it's your automobile insurance you should be worried about. You get a ticket, your insurance rates GO UP!

As more and more states join, it's even spreading to drivers of trains, subways, taxi cabs, Buses, and planes. If you don't think that texting while driving is dangerous, just ask the dead train engineer of a commuter line who missed the stop signals and plowed into a freight train. Now think of that as if you are driving your car. Are you willing to take *THAT CHANCE?* ?

Some of you will scoff and say, "I'll be ok. I can watch, text, and drive at the same time". Famous last words to be inscribed on to your tombstone.

Please, put the side kick, blackberry and cell phone down. Drive first. Text later.

Semper FI.
